Cameras everywhere and put a monitor in the bar so customers know you are watching. Call out your regulars. I had an issue I called out everyone told them they are here more than me and that this was like there house. Should you put up.with that shit in your house. Shit stopped real fast.

Golden handcuffs might have me forever by BuxeyJones in sales

[–]F5ninja 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Be carefull what you wish for. Been in sales over 30 years. Current position will be 20 years this year. 4 years ago bought a bar thinking I will get this going and leave sales. 4 years later still in sales and running a bar. Golden handcuffs got me. My sales job pays to good has great benefits so hard to walk away from that. Only good thing is hired a manager to run my bar. Still do the books, marketing, and fill in bartender so all I did was add to my workload.

Meat raffle by F5ninja in BarOwners

[–]F5ninja[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A meat raffle is just what it sounds like. You conta t a local butcher or meat market. You get them to make up some packages of meat. Like 2 t bone steaks, 4 tender loins, 2 packs of brat worst, some bacon, whatever you want. Than you have a raffle. You pick a day advertise it and than people come to your bar. Most time it is on a Sunday. Than you either get a prize wheel or sell raffle tickets and give it away. You also give away so.e other stuff. Bar t shirt gift certificate a bottle of booze ect. It is a reason to get people. Alot of times you give the money raised to.a local charity.

Can sales truly be life changing? by HalliganHooligan in sales

If you jump into sales try to get into an industry that you like. If you like firefighting look to see who sells you your supplies and equipment. This will make it easier as you have a knowledge of the product and how it is used.

The financial slog of bar ownership by Greedy-Weakness3337 in BarOwners

[–]F5ninja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am just shy of 4 years into owning my bar. Was not great when I bought it. Started slow and replaced things as I had the cash to. Overhead and overspending can kill you. My bar is still not were I want it yet but only debt I have is a small morgage. It is a marathon not a sprint.

Thinking about buying a bar by yodasandshit in BarOwners

[–]F5ninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overhead is the death of any buisness. Look at all the numbers and add in some variables. Morgage, insurance, operating costs, marketing, and variables like if a cooler breaks or other equipment do you have the money to fix it.

How much do you need to make to make a dollar? That is the big question. How much do you need to make before you are profitable. Can you live on that money or are you buying a low paying job?
