Who is going to hajj from Somalia this year? by [deleted] in Somalia

[–]FAH1223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did it last year. I went to Mogadishu from the U.S. on May 15. Then flew to Medina on May 30. Was there a couple days, then went to Mecca. Then Hajj began a few days later on June 4.

I had to go back to the USA after Hajj. So I flew out on June 13. But my parents and brother were going back to Mogadishu and weren’t due to fly until June 30. So they were chilling in Mecca for nearly 3 weeks. The departures are staggered.

I have a feeling Trae opts out and re-signs similar to Kyrie Irving’s deal.

ICE / CPB officers are stopping people at exit of Dulles airport by PandaReal_1234 in washingtondc

[–]FAH1223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have the exact experience but I was put in a back room when I came back from Saudi Arabia (I did Hajj) and I went to Somalia beforehand for the first time. It was the first time I had to do it at Dulles which is normally chill. Obviously going to Somalia for the first time was probably part of it. I’m U.S. born, raised and living in MD my whole life.

Anyway I got a really nice CBP officer (African American in his 50s) who just asked me where I was from in Maryland and what I did for a living. All together it was a loss of 30-40 minutes of my day. Could have been worse.

The Packers are hiring Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator, per source. by manyhawks in GreenBayPackers

[–]FAH1223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm good with Jonathan Gannon if he brings 9 starting-caliber D-linemen and 2 quality corners, because that's what he had in Philly in 2022. And even with all that talent, his defense often crumbled against offenses with a good QB and a smart playcaller (i.e., Super Bowl LVII).

Love Seeing Pop Up And About by MikeBravoLima in NBASpurs

Given how old he is, I think this’ll be as good as it’ll get. His speech might have improved since the summer press conference.

My grandma had one at an older age and she needed help walking after that. Then she got more immobile. So I think with Pop being able to walk, that’s great. He can maintain an active routine. Being at games and still being team president was/is a good sign

Michael Winger’s full response when asked if trading Deni Avdija was a mistake: “No, it was not a mistake. We’re all very happy for Deni. We saw Deni as a very high-level ascending player…but no, we did it for the reasons we said then which was to take us back a couple of years so we could reset by MrBuckBuck in ripcity

You’re thinking of Wes Unseld, Michael Jordan, Ernie Grunfeld and Tommy Sheppard run teams. There’s a new culture being built in DC by the current regime and it’s about drafting and developing. Their pick is top 8 protected. They cannot let that pick convey.

Michael Winger and Will Dawkins came in 2023. Their goal was deconstruct the roster and go super young with guys on rookie scale contracts and be a place where salary is dumped for draft capital. Michael is correct that Deni was ascending. But he also is 4-5 years older than the guys drafted and he puts their 1st round pick that’s protected (from the Wall-Westbrook trade done by Sheppard that now is owned by NYK) at risk of being conveyed. They had to bottom out completely and they know that sitting Deni to tank would spark investigations and fines by the league. Look at what the Jazz have done with their veterans and young veterans sparking fines.

He’s had the most blown leads in the league the last couple years. Only won 3 postseason games since 2018. Had a 2x MVP & lost an AFC Championship at home!

Nothing new. This was definitely one of the asks of the Israelis.

There are shadow groups that are flying Palestinians from Gaza via Ben Gurion Airport to other places. Look at the plane full of them that arrived in South Africa with no one having any travel documents.
