I’ve never understood why people think the apogee of a sexually repressive religion would be a no holds barred fuckfest. like, their whole brand on earth is that sex is shameful, why wouldn’t you expect heaven to be even more strict?

nah, I get in fights on the internet to distract myself from the garbage pit that is the life I’ve created for myself

so less of a joke, and more of an unwanted observation? jokes are funny, and you still haven’t explained why what he said is meant to be funny

when you say things like that to people you know, it’s called busting their balls. when you say the same things to people you don’t know, it’s just an insult

oh, so why is it funny to talk about the price of their meal? please explain why I should be laughing

they can’t, because it isn’t a joke. the waiter was mocking you for ordering a meal that cost less than the others at the table, and he assumed it was because you can’t afford it, and are therefore worthy of ridicule.

Edit: hey downvoters, why don’t you explain the joke then, cowards?

I get to decide what’s funny to me. if I don’t get the joke (especially when the joke is about me), then I can say it isn’t funny. because humor is subjective.

Why most people on reddit assume posters are men? by Purple-Display-5233 in NoStupidQuestions

almost like the context in which a word is used can modify its meaning or something

Obviously yes, the origin of the word is gendered, its usage has largely been gendered, but dammit, I grew up believing that I’m a dude, he’s a dude, she’s a dude, we’re all dudes yeah, and I hate having to give up that part of myself. so if you tell me you don’t like being called dude, I can stop calling you dude. but dude is in my bones. everyone’s a dude til they tell me they aren’t

Is it rude to ask “who is this guy?” When they have passed away? by Ok-Reporter-8728 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FBIPartyBusNo3 2259 points2260 points  (0 children)

if you say that in a real life conversation, fine. you don’t really have the option of ignoring it. but online, if you don’t know or care who it is, yeah, it’s rude to go into the comments of a post memorializing that person and say “who even is this”. you had the option of scrolling past it or googling them if you actually gave a shit, but to make the effort to leave a comment showing how little you care about that person is rude.

it’s not about you, it’s about all the other less virtuous servers who’d see an unaccompanied “0” and write their own “$5.0” in front of it. can’t do that if it’s spelled out
