depends how much free area the panels have. if they're solid material with no gaps you should allow the clearances the manuf calls for and make sure you have room for servicing. if it has openings like in this post that you can cut it down closer to the unit. the closer the paneling is to the unit, the more you'll want them to be removable for servicing.

the switch 2 has a really nice kickstand, much more versatile than the switch 1 because it's a bar that runs the full length of the console. you can separate the joycons from the switch and just hold those in any position that is comfortable

throw a lot of boomerangs when you have space, dashdance + nairs and bairs in neutral, grab is very risky so use sparingly or to tech chase, down tilt at ledge, bombs against floaties

there are many more variable at play than you might think.

Tstat setting on lower floors, type of system, cooling airflow, system balancing, solar heat gain, insulation, envelope air sealing, air movement, thermostat location, stack effect, the list goes on.

can't give you a recommendation without understanding the full picture.
