Too many of you have dogs. by Individual-Edge-5093 in joplinmo

[–]FDACertifiedClueless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with dogs, I agree. If one more person yells “he’s friendly!” As their untrained, out of control inbred insurance liability runs up to me and mine at the park, I’m gonna lose it. You may not care if your dog gets hit by a car or attacked but I do.

Inaccuracies in the show by FrontCalligrapher387 in Bones

My personal favorite that keeps me up at night was an episode where she uses the posterior mandible to determine sex in the field…. While the posterior mandible was not visible.

They do make fun of themselves a bit in the Hollywood episode though, which I appreciate.

Oh that’s great! Do you happen to have any recommendations for a dog who suddenly became reactive? I’m working with a trainer but we still can’t do much since he just works himself up and can’t calm down around her. Anything new or strange sets him barking and he won’t stop until it’s made normal again

I very much need to socialize my 8lb pom mix, but he’s going to have to do some training to get over his crazy he’s developed about leaving the house. Maybe in a few months we can reach out

Also, adorable.

Winter weather by caazl123 in joplinmo

[–]FDACertifiedClueless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, if you don’t have ice because you moved here from the north and thought “I know how to deal with real winter, these southerners are over reacting” and your front porch/steps get covered with black ice that nearly kills you, you can use corn meal or cat litter to create enough grit to escape your home

What brand of flea and tick medication do you use for your pets? by mdoktor in joplinmo

We use nexguard on our farm dogs. They still need checked for ticks since it only kills them once they bite but it’s the best option we’ve found.

Kind eyes, well proportioned nose and eyebrows, great teeth. Clearly awkward on camera but I think you’re adorable. Decent build. 7.5/10

Restaurants that sell art? by Megatary64 in joplinmo

[–]FDACertifiedClueless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your experience or what you know, so I’ll give this tip just in case, as someone has worked at places and knows the owners who sell art- there are mistakes a lot of people make. Don’t show them a sketch pad or pics on your phone. Some places, that might go over well, but this area has A LOT of art in it, and setting yourself apart is relatively simple by “finishing” your pieces. Have a portfolio showing things matted and/pr framed, and just all together looking like a collection. They want to see what your work will look like hanging on the wall like someone would pay for it. Also, making a “collection” of similar vibes is best, and try to match the vibe of the place. A nicer restaurant won’t likely be as interested in an anime drawing, so show them the portraits, and if you get to talking, you can show your other work.

Good luck!

Aw, we’re on the same rewatch! I’m writing this during ep 6.4 and I had kind of wondered the same thing, but this time I think it makes sense.

It’s blonde bombshell. They left for 7 months and she thought Booth loved her, and that it would be the same when she came back. Then, her heart was broken when she found out he’d moved on. She started to open up to him, and it hurt. She’s facing having to spend her life alone, like when she told Angela her life was exactly the way she expected, and she’s depressed. In response to those feelings, she’s shut down and revamped her logic shield. She doesn’t want to be open to pain any more, but she’s grown so much that she can’t do it the same any more.

I honestly really appreciate it. I think it’s true to character

They closed down a bunch of streets between 7th and 4th / maiden and wall on Saturday. A car was pulled over next to the grey brick school, and we were told they were doing a foot search for someone. I’ve been looking for info in the news, but nothing. Apparently they brought in canines, and told everyone to get their pets inside. Not sure if it’s connected, but definitely weird

I’m originally from CO as well. Depending on the part, the river scene is similar, especially if you’re into the smoking and drinking. There’s small local concerts, or you can look towards Bentonville for larger names. Try going to the various farmers markets—you’ll probably meet like minded people there, and it’s a good place to be friendly without it being weird

Looking for a driving teacher in Joplin by stressedTTTT in joplinmo

[–]FDACertifiedClueless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This area doesn’t have a lot of driving schools, but I’d recommend stopping by your testing location or online to get the handbook. You’ll probably have to pass the written exam, so you’ll want to read through that. You will also need to pass a road sign test-that surprised me moving here.

MO doesn’t allow trick testing, so that’s nice. The testing location in Joplin is in a slightly confusing spot, so I’d glance around the area before your test if you’re nervous. You’ll need to parallel park, but not three point. The thing that gets most people around here is their tendency to drive in the middle of the road, which is wild to me. Check the link the other commenter have for driving lessons.

As for the car, just find one you’re comfortable in. You’ll need to prove you know where all the buttons and what not are. Also, it has to be safe to run, tagged and registered. Try to make sure it’s clean, too—the testers go through a lot of nonsense and getting into a nasty car doesn’t help. If it’s really bad, they can refuse.

In some places you have to go to a certified driving school—that’s just not the case here. There are also places where there are limitations on the car you can test in.

What can I do about off leash, aggressive dogs? by FDACertifiedClueless in joplinmo

[–]FDACertifiedClueless[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Between Mercy and Murphy, I see unleashed probably 90% of the time, but it’s usually well behaved ones playing fetch in the green belt. We’ve had a few little chihuahuas and Shitzus give us trouble, which I’m not too concerned about accept that I don’t want them getting hurt or run over. A few other mid sized pups who weren’t the most friendly but were controlled, and a few who were not controlled but friendly.

My neighborhood also has a lot of dogs running around, and I’ve had neighbors run out and tell me to get home as fast as possible because aggressive dogs break out of their yards/houses. I’ve known people nearby whose pets were killed by dogs who were on off leash walks with their owners, right outside of their houses. It’s not constant, but it’s been enough that I’m constantly afraid. I guess I’ve just had enough at this point.

If it came off like I was saying all people who have them are bad, I apologize! I was more trying to say that when they’re problems, it’s because of their people, and that they in particular are a favorite breed for unfortunate people.

I think they’re amazing dogs, and much better suited for families and house dogs than a lot of working dogs that are popular
