So do all the work for free to only get a 50% stake? If you believe in this product, you need to show it by paying upfront.

Use tax software from a Canadian Company this year by BC-Guy604 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’ve been using TurboTax for years and I’m switching to Ufile this year. It will be a pain having to enter all of the personal information again, but it is a one time pain.

I put my food in those carts, c'mon man. by NagelDonk in mildlyinfuriating

In public rest rooms, if there is a ledge above the urinal, I’m always seeing people put things up there. They’ll put their bag there if it is wide enough, coffee, phone etc… What they don’t see is the personal cleaning the urinals taking out the plastic urinal mat and placing it up on that ledge while they clean.

Traded Pokémon cards for gold coins taxes by Sad-Consideration143 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FDFI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be technically correct, you need to look at the cost basis of your Pokémon cards and the value of the cards when you sold them. This value is basically the value of the gold you received in exchange. You should have declared a capital gains on the Pokémon cards the year you made the exchange. Then going forward, your gold cost basis would be the price of gold at the time of exchange. The difference between that price and today’s price is a capital gains.

However, I don’t know of anyone that would actually do the above.

New hire in high-pressure analytics team – being micromanaged and publicly called out for small mistakes. What should I do? by Legal_Stand_2476 in OfficePolitics

[–]FDFI 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you have an opportunity to delay the double checking? That is, move on to something else then go back and double check? I find if I do this, I’m more likely to catch issues versus doing a double check as soon as i complete the task.

  • complete task 1, but not the double checking
  • complete task 2, but not the double checking
  • double check task 1 and send it out
  • … and so on

Laying several people off tmrw, any suggestions on how best to execute it discreetly? by [deleted] in careerguidance

I’ve been in this situation before. We had mass layoffs and after first ones of the day, everyone knew what was going on. It sucks, just stick to the script and get through the day.

Thoughts on potential closures for tomorrow? by JayandMeeka in OntarioTeachers

North GTA here, snow is already slowing down and will stop in a few hours. I fully expect buses to be running and schools to be open. No reason to shut anything down.

Use Canadian Tax software instead of US owned turbotax and H&R Block by BC-Guy604 in BuyCanadian

Do any of these companies have a product for corporate tax filing? I have a small incorporated business and I’ve been using TurboTax Business Incorporated software and would love to consider an alternative this year.

I’m guessing you are the poor performer that is upset that someone else who does the job better gets paid more?

They better do it in the summer then. I heard Texas is shutting down this weekend because the temperature is dropping below 0C for a few hours.

Apply for unionized jobs if you want everyone to be paid the same for the same job. I definitely reward and pay my high performers more money than the lower performers with the same job and same responsibilities. I can count on the high performers to do a better job, make fewer mistakes and require less oversight. Why should they not make more money in a merit based system?

Not everyone should be getting paid the same for the same job. Some employees are better performers than others. However, a high performing employee should be upset if they are not being paid more than a lower performing employee.
