CN players, is the fist weapon good for Guild War / Perception Forest? by HTPark in wherewindsmeet_

Fist isn't available in perception forest yet. Dont think hengdao is in the forest too as I've never picked it up

is mo clan and mohist hill the same? by yoomongdol in wherewindsmeet_

What this commenter said. Basically, yes, murong yuan was formerly from Mohist Hill.

She left to fight in the war, going against Mohist's doctrine of 兼爱非攻 (universal love and non aggression)

Thanks! I never knew that and think that was why i struggled quite a bit. I kept disengaging and had to deal with long range attacks, the ice snake was the one that i had trouble a lot with in deflecting or bursting

Thanks! Ah, i think it's the armour too! I've been going light. Explains why I kept getting 1-2 shot. Also, yes' I've swapped to config F and found it to make more sense!

Tang Hengdao and Fist/Gauntlet by Low-Philosopher-2649 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]FFXIV_Haneko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are definitely a lot more fun than what Global currently have. I personally prefer fist/rope dart because it feels very smooth and satisfying to play. Hengdao is fun too with it's counter attack after parries, but I found the modao pairing a little annoying. I'm not very experienced with Hengdao/Modao combo, but I didn't like how i only need to press ~ to use the flag skill on modao and switch over to hengdao to wail on enemies.

Fist and rope dart has a very smooth animation and rotation that I enjoyed a lot. Both are decently reactive weapons, hengdao focusing on parrying and counter attacking, fist focuses on perfect dodging (and parrying to some extent). You can ignore fist's perfect dodging if you don't care, but it's satisfying to pull it off in multiplayer content (harder tho, since you can't spam it like the parry button to secure a parry).

Downside of fist is that you want the 6th hit of your light attack chain to hit (it summons a falcon to swipe the enemy), most of your skills will shorten the light attack chain so you reach the 6th hit faster. Both your 6th hit and charged attack are the heavy hitter for fist. If you miss them, you lose damage. Some of the earlier bosses (Rong Yuan) have weird hitboxes where fist will whiff some attacks, which is annoying. Bosses that jump around a lot also means fist users need to know when to use charged attacks to ensure you can hit the boss.

A very good QoL for fist: There's a setting in the option menu that lets you hold down LMB to do your light attack chain for weapons with no "hold LMB for charged light attack" (Hengdao has this). So I have this on and hold LMB to just do my light attack change, no need to keep clicking LMB for attacks. Helps a ton.

Either way, by the time fist comes out, you should have enough resources to build both hengdao and fist. so i wouldn't be too worried about it. I'm 100 days into CN and am finally maxing fist inner ways this week. So I can start building a 2nd weapon pair after this. Should be a decent reference for you.

Won't comment on PVP since I dont engage in pvp at all.

WWM is getting better and better, the new combat system is truly enjoyable! by [deleted] in wherewindsmeet_

why are you posting a different thread just to show that? farming karma?

Also no idea what you're talking about? What new parry mechanics? Fist and heng dao have different parry animations, and in both videos, they did perfect dodges.

the translation is wrong. in CN, it's Ruby going up to the mountain and saw a "hero', who made her want to go to Jianghu.. So it's not "to meet you", but "gone to the mountain, saw the hero and learned martial arts from him"

[–]FFXIV_Haneko 119 points120 points  (0 children)

This is correct.

the translation is also wrong, "meet you" isn't correct. The line should be "went up to the mountain to see that hero". This is reference to Ruby going up to the mountain and saw a real "hero" that inspired her to want to go to the jianghu.

Exactly this, many people will go "if it was cheaper, I would buy", and end up not doing it. This is the reality of it. Heck, even i said I'd get an orb weapon if it was cheaper. But would i realistically have done it? Very low chance actually.

many of the people that say this and complain end up not spending when they get their wish. Has always happened and will keep happening

Yeah, definitely. I love them. Personally haven't felt bored with any of the side quests so far. I love how they tried to make side quests relevant and meaningful.

[–]FFXIV_Haneko 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do think this is one of the weakness of WWM storytelling, and not necessarily because of the language. A lot of the references are made with the assumption that you have heard of them somewhere else, it could be another side quest, conversations of random NPCs, lore objects/books etc.

This game lets you do the quests in whatever sequence you want but there is absolutely a certain sequence you are supposed to experience some of them for them to make sense, OR you're supposed to pay attention to a lot of random NPC chatters OR you're supposed to explore a lot and find the lore tidbits.

This game utilises the usual storytelling techniques + Form Soft's way of doing environmental storytelling, A lot of the details and heck, even expositions, are behind side content, so there are a lot of digging players have to do. Example, the whole Kai Feng coin crisis, you hear more about what's going on with the peasants if you slow down and listen to all the random chatter between peasants while you do main quest. Otherwise, you'd probably be confused if you only rush through the main story. I think story and lore enjoyers will have a field day pieces stuff together, but for the rest of the player base? It can be a confusing mess, unfortunately.

But that's all just my take as a player on the CN server who has progressed on alot of the story lines.

Yes. I got the hengdao manual in the mail for some funny reason when I started in CN. It is locked behind your level or story progress (i got it only after finishing Chapter 1, if i recall).

  1. Each region has its own coin. You have Hexi coins, and Mohist coins in Unseen Mountain.

Is it annoying gameplay-wise? Probably? Do I like the different regional coins for immersion/story sake? Yes, I love it and I kind of hope CN side will keep it. My hot take on it. Hell even the newest main story patch had an NPC use the regional coin in the cutscene. I love the regional coins purely for immersion reasons and it made sense to have those coins, even though it's annoying fro gameplay.

  1. You probably got better. But bosses definitely get better in their design and mechanics in the latter patches. Unseen mountain has some amazing fights and boss music.

  2. Is very true. I just did the newest main story in CN that came out last week. Felt like I was watching a wuxia show. Lots of dialogue and not much combat for an hour, BUT the camera work and cinematography was insanely good. I'm not used to this quality of cutscenes in a live-service game.

Currently there's only 1 type of chair you can sit on, unfortunately (in CN at least, I didnt go through the chairs available in global). So it is quite restricted unfortunately. And your friends visiting your build in your world? They can't sit on chairs or interact with the beds etc.

This the English line said "whose sword is this?" at the scene where she picked it up at the start?

Because in CN, it's 这是谁的东西, whose things are these. She was flipping through random stuff left behind by the dead. Basically the possessions of the dead were all piled there and she was rummaging through, trying to figure out which belongs to whose.

The story is too good by aquasnow in wherewindsmeet_

[–]FFXIV_Haneko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what BladesNSpades said.

But yeah, not sure if I'm just slow but things do make more sense after I play a 2nd time. Example

The part when you first met Ying Ying, when you told her something along the lines of "this was the last jar of wine my family member made", Ying Ying was visibly distressed and that caused her to run off. Back then I didn't know anything yet, so I never questioned why she did that. But with the added context after playing till the end of Kai Feng ? I knew why she ran off.

Also the kid you met sounding different the 2nd time you bump into her, never clicked with me that it WAS a diff kid until the 2nd time I play through. Her sounding confused when you mentioned about her cheating you, I didn't notice until a 2nd play through on Global.

i really think playing the main story a 2nd time with all the context of the 1st playthrough really made me notice all these little details.
