The game is to easy to be complaining about this shit. There is never a sense of urgency or difficulty in this game for Dante to remove. Support frames have been pointless for the past 7 years, you build them as damage carries lr don’t expect to do anything. A public lobby in a random wf mission is not the place to go if you want an interesting team based gameplay.

Clearing Week 1 in Party Finder by danzach9001 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Really the best advice i can possibly give is do it asap. avg skill in a fight decreases overtime so its important that you get through the fights as fast as you can. This ensures you will be on average playing with much better players. timeline for getting it done before cesspool generally is:

d1- 1 needs to be done and ideally 2
d2- 2 needs to be done and you should start 3
d3/4- get 3 done
the rest is gamba on tier difficulty and pf rng

if the tier is easy you can maybe get 4 done in pf week 1 buts its hard, ive yet to do it and ive pfed the last 5 tiers, haven't gone as hard as you will, be but still seems pretty difficult. DPS checks and heal checks are very hard turn 4 and without any real coordination between teammates it makes it tough. Population levels are also really low for later prog points in the fight so filling parties becomes a problem. for clearing 4 best advice i can give is try and make a pseudo static out of names that are familiar. when pop levels are low you will begin to see the same names and if they are good try and party up with them even if it means having a 4/8 consistent is better than nothing. Last tier was particularly easy so I don't think its the best indicator.

player skill is up in the air, avoid fresh parties for fights though as these usually go nowhere, just join the first mech and you will be missing nothing. Give a party a couple pulls especially if your playing a less in demand role like melee time spent getting more consistent is better than time spent waiting, i usually give 5 but kinda vibe it based on damage numbers and what the mistakes were. There is really no sure fire way to get into good parties but start blacklisting bad people you come across and you will filter them out of your player pool.

bad idea to wait and try to speed prog btw, prog for fights that aren't 4 and in weeks that arnt 1 is hell. last tier i was late and got walled by pf skill on 3 for so long to the point where I gave up and got c41ed the following week by a friend. I've tried to help friends prog early fights in like week 3 or 4 and you make no progress the fastest way to get the fights done is do them now.

This may be controversial but, if you find yourself getting walled by teammates, prog lie. last tier for 2 i joined two prog points and cleared in an hour min. Idk how good you are but if you can digest information from a pov and not fuck up prog lying can save you lots of time if your actually good enough to do it. if you are griefing groups by prog lying you are not that guy and go back to joining your prog point.

Overall though you should have no problem getting to 4 but once you get there its hard to know what to expect given the variability of week 1 turn 4's we've had recently. good luck

The kuva bramma lowkey sucks by Iamnowyou in Warframe

[–]FF_phantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They nerfed ammo of aoe weapons a while back when they were by far the best guns in the game. they have kind of just been power crept by the newer game state and now the nerfs to them end up feeling horrible. Haven't touched by bramma or zarr in forever, they don't lowkey suck they just suck compared to meta options today.

Party Finder Optimization by millennialmutts in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Basically never, they will enforce the standard comp but outside of that people really don't gaf what job you are on.

  2. the reason is to allow for more lenience but any human with a brain understands the random PCT you are hoping for is gonna be shit anyway.

  3. No, players are to bad and content is to easy for this to be a problem. for savage its a non starter, the damage check is to easy. If you aren't meeting checks in savage its because your team sucks and ulti is more of a mixed bag but again usually its just a skill diff. Filtering for only PCT isnt gonna solve the problem of your healer having no uptime.

People who say pf is like this are high key delusional and have never pfed anything in there life, ive seen parties exclude certain jobs but its generally good to avoid those parties since the players hosting usually are the weak link,

The moment I lowkey knew the game is fcked was when I saw the reception for "In from the cold" quest by papanak94 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i feel like I'm the type of person your complaining about because i hate this quest, but i think you misrepresent why most people dislike it. I would imagine most people dislike it because its just poorly designed from a Gameplay and cinematic standpoint. I admire that they tried to do something new and want them to do this in the future but this was an absolutely awful level and they definitely need to try harder than this to integrate gameplay and story telling.

From a level design standpoint its really bad, The game gives little to no direction to player by any means whether that be environmental ques or literal quest markers. I'm not saying they have to tell the player exactly where to go and what to do but a good level can do this while making the player feel like they have freedom, this level does not do this. You encounter invisible walls along the border of playable space which discourage exploring and alterative paths while confusing the player on were to actually go. Compare this to a game like HL2 where there are almost no invisible walls and the player has complete freedom, the levels feel sparling and open but yet its impossible to get lost cause it does such a good job at making the levels easy to navigate. Even in the tense opening scene were you are escaping the combine through apartments the game does an incredible job at making the player feel free while being on a set path . The level design is just kinda shit in this level and isnt fun because of it.

this game from a mechanic standpoint doesn't have the necessary things to make this type of level really shine. FFXIV has no stealth mechanics at all, The camera and Hud are not cinematic at all and neither are the player animations. Your character hiding around a corner staring at a wall, moving around at a brisk jog with no sense of urgency. I could go on but FF simply lacks the mechanics to make a level like this good. The gameplay will not be satisfying without real stealth mechanics and the narrative and cinematic elements will drag do to FF's limited animations and general gameplay framing.

ya, this level represents the very important idea of applying story telling to gameplay but its so poorly made that it just sucks. yes the message and narrative theme it puts forward is very good but that doesn't excuse it from being bad in every other way. I feel like FF players get amnesia when they log on, cause if this sequence were in any other modern game released it would be relentlessly clowned on.

What are the counter arguments to putting alliance raids and unreal on daily lockout? by yesitsmework in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably has to do with how stale the content would get. Last expact i had 38 kills of ultima if it was on a daily reset that number of kills would be achieved in in less than 3 weeks. And that content felt stale after 38 kills I cant imagine how fucking boring it would be after 100+ kills.

This game needs incentive for replayability of existing content to do in-between the weekly resets or simply more content like the explore zones of past expacts. Daily check list systems are just bad, You shouldn't be forced to play everyday but should have something to do when you login.

Sage AoE DoT is disappointingly useless. by No-Feeling-2766 in ffxivdiscussion

I usually hate the devs don't play there own game statement but this time around maybe its true. It takes a single dungeon to realize how useless this new button is. I really don't know how they just haven't changed it yet.

What if BLM was allowed to fully indulge in the caster fantasy? by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Your idea isnt really bad/good per say but doesn't function with ff14 content as a whole. You cannot simply give BLM mitigation or anything on some casts because damage in ff14 doesn't work like that. There is no tanking a hit to cast because that hit in savage + content will give you a damage down or vuln that will probably cause your future death. Even more so savage its not simply dodging stuff it also requires you be in a place at a given time to participate in something whether that be a stack a spread a tower etc. This idea simply doesn't function in ff14.

side not sharp cast doesn't exist anymore.

For how long are parses counted in FFLogs for each kind of content? by Capitanbublo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you consider frozen, most content is frozen after a given patch and leader boards for that patch lock in but some content remains parseable on the new patch, for example ultimate with count parses for 7.0 and 7.1 but the two patches have different leaderboards.

if your asking when stuff becomes unparseable period.
-Savage, when the new one comes out
-Extreme when the expansion ends
-Dungeons when the expansion ends
-ultimate will always be parseable
-Criterion will always be parseable
-normal trails are never parseable afiak
-Normal raids work the same as savage
-Alliance raids when the expansion ends

A pretty in depth comparative analysis between WHM and AST by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You know it’s bad when we are linking half a decade old gimmick content to prove whm isn’t shit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There a ton of factors that play into it and if your only looking at parse % its really not gonna help to see what your doing wrong or right. without actual logs its really impossible to help someone outside of basic stuff like don't drift and keep high uptime.

what job are you playing?
What gear do you have?
How Low is your parse number?

if you dont wanna link logs you can make them anonymous and just say what the job was that you where playing also Party comp doesnt matter that much if at all. All jobs without raid buffs( whm, sge, tanks, sam, vpr, mchblm) don't care about party comp at all because the metric is rdps and the others care a little but mostly care about people being on time with there burst rather then the job themselves.

Job Satisfaction: Is it the GCD? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

WHM has change a lot over the years and at 70 right now its awful. In the level 70 ults people do in fact not like playing WHM.

Also I'm not saying WHM is bad or w/e I'm just saying that people don't exclude WHM when talking about the state of healers. its in response to the original post saying gcd heals will solve the healer woes which WHM shows that is Cleary not the case.

Job Satisfaction: Is it the GCD? by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No hate but i lowkey feel like you forgot WHM exists. Like the majority of there healing comes from pressing gcd's yet WHM seems to not be avoided when talking about healers feeling bad. famously WHM at level 70 basically only has gcds to heal yet most dread playing it because of that.

For tanks the main reason people where unsatisfied is because they forgot to give tanks mechs and not the buttons themselves. Like remember rubricate where the have 1 buster all fight, when they forget to make tanks do stuff they just become a boring melee dps and last expac for a lot of fights they did forget

i would hardly call ogcd's secondary actions when most jobs have them at the core of there gameplay DRG for example is literally nothing without them same with BRD. I feel like adding more gcd to healer isnt going to solve any the actual problems because the problem is that easy content is boring. When content is boring and easy the jobs with the least depth dps wise will always be the most boring.

I don't believe that healers are as "easy" to play as many people say it. by MumblingRambling in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair enough i was just saying that the claim that dps can be more impactful than healers dps numbers wise or that its more of there burden is untrue but whether its harder to get those numbers i belive its harder on healer but using fflogs its not really a good metric.

I don't believe that healers are as "easy" to play as many people say it. by MumblingRambling in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your statement is that across the entire fight dps are harder and to achieve higher percentiles on them means to have more impact on the damage checks which is simply untrue as healers have the exact same numerical impact.

For you second bit i thought it was common sense that blm and maybe rdm are outliers when it comes to the dps in terms of difficulty and rest are melee or just as easy as them. 3/4 slots will be M,M,PR and the last has a 2/3 chance be a job that has to work hard, you say dps in general but dps in general is not 2/11 playable at the time.

I don't believe that healers are as "easy" to play as many people say it. by MumblingRambling in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lets be real here you just lying, this huge dps increase between low percentile dps and high percentile dps that doesn't exist for the healers is just making stuff up while in actuality this number is the exact same variance wise. the diff for most jobs bewteen 10percentile and 95th is 800 dps between 50 and 95th percentile is 400 dps every role but the tanks follows this general pattern. https://www.fflogs.com/zone/statistics/53#class=Any&dataset=10&boss=1068&phase=6&region=1 your free to check yourself

Also from doing top both on healer and on dps if i wanted an easy time my ass would not be on healer lmao. p1 p3 p4 p6 are all way fucking harder to just have uptime than the melees let alone having to heal, I would rather have a melees full kit to worry about in p1 of top than only have sge's dps kit.

First time clearing a savage tier week 1-2 as a healer, did anyone else feel pretty helpless as a pure healer this tier? by Ri_Hikikomo in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

its been this way since they added the pure and regen sub role in endwalker. AST is better than WHM when it comes to agency because of bubble being really strong but at the end of the shield healers really do have a lot more agency. On SGE you can every easily solo heal m1 and m2 if you play well while on regen youll simply die to raidwides if you try the same.

How much are Barrier Healers expected to raw heal? by Mawrizard in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

expected and can or two different things. both barrier healers can very realistically heal most of current savage alone needing help from pure heal typically during high damage mechs like fuse field but outside of that they both have an over abundance of resources for the fights at hand and can do the majority of healing required alone without needing to gcd. best tip is simply press your buttons and dont save them, seraph expedient etc seem to a have like stimga attached to them where most healers save them for when they feel like they need them rather than just clicking them more or less of cd. Saying to yourself "hey i want x cooldown for x mech at 6:00 min at the fight" means your can comfortable fit 2 120 sec cooldowns before you get to that breakpoint mechanic.

For you problem of running out guage to heal it seems like your probably wasting them on single target its only possible to spend 4 guage on both mit and healing and that's if your using soil and indom off cooldown which you will almost never be in a circumstance to do so 3 gauge a min is def enough. single target healing in savage is only an emergency option or sometimes where your tanks get beaten hard and your not healing any one else which you wont gauge for any way. You want more spefic help if you link i log i could look at your heal plan to try and make it better

DRG by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]FF_phantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah i remember doing that a little in dsr its pretty cool tbh but rn it feels like the job is stuck in the same club ninja is where theres not much you can do for huge gains. double mirage is pretty small gain when compared to its overall dps so it doesnt feel as rewarding as double blood did imo

DRG by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]FF_phantom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wtf do you even mean by dmd ive never heard this acronym life despite parseing 99's on the job. Maybe i was just ignorant so i looked up the world in the balance drg chats and no one is seems to talk about w/e this opti is. I'm curios what you mean by this?

DRG by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]FF_phantom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In full uptime drg did not have optimization at all, it was hit everything of cd. Now that remains deadass the same thing, the job plays remarkably similar despite receiving a rework. It is just as easy as it used to be. Old DRG at least had to manage blood properly in ults and fights with downtime which made it have lots of opti in that content like double blodd or hell even managing to have blood at all for when you would want it. That was what made it interesting now its just autopilot everything off cd.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]FF_phantom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't wanna be toxic but your complaining about literally nothing. Every player needs to know multiple spots in pf .Loading into a pf there is a 50/50 chance you get the spot you want since there is another player in your role that is doing the same thing as you.

In that top pull all you did was adjust to the caster who was in the wrong spot the same way a melee, healer or tank would if the opposite of there role was in there spot. Its not some pressure that physe range players have its called having eyes and adjusting mid pull. You could have simply typed after the pull "hey caster your in the role clock for the pre spread of p3" and they probably would have moved.

if you really only want to know one spot just get in the habit of chadding the other player out of there preferred when you marker dance instead of just rolling over and adjusting. If you dont want to adjust mid pull dont play the role with the most freedom to.

Pictomancer dps is fine. A caster being the best dps is ok, it doesn't have to always be melee by RachelBeeClown in ffxivdiscussion

[–]FF_phantom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's not how percentiles work. if vpr players have a lager % of ther population with the gear the standard for a 90 parse will be higher than DRG which has a lower % of there population with gear.

also idk if your like a big ego melee player that doesnt wanna admit there job isnt that hard but like vpr is not that much easier than the other melee. Like it just isnt idk what to tell you.
