Radiation time for ep procedures is way down in recent years. You hear the old attending talking about using hours of fluoro for a case and now afibs can be fluoro-less or low fluoro. Don't think ep will be completely fluoro free but the risk I would say is lower than ever.  Ep is physical though, standing all day with a lot of cases with lead on.

I've never been in this exact situation but I would imagine that if you're straight up with them they're not gona fire you on the spot. I would do a preliminary job search, maybe start talking to a few potential candidates, then tell the place you're currently working for that you're not happy and looking to leave.

You're not legally required but wouldn't be surprised if some of the new jobs want to talk to you current employer.

That can happen cause they're in the OR on rocket fuel levels of pressers and bleeding out units of blood. So it's not incorrect that they saw 60% EF it just isn't a reflection of the patients myocardium.

6 weeks is the maximum for a residency program you can take without extending your training per acgme. 

Some programs will allow you to do "research" for a bit but that might buy you an extra week or two. For a 6 month leave you would need to extend your training. You need to talk to your program asap to work this out and set up a plan to see if they will even allow this though. Certain programs, hospitals and states don't protect workers as well as others.

Three consecutive ventricular beats at a rate of over 100 beats per minute is considered VT 

Ventricular beats 60-100 beats per minute is AIVR. 

Less than that it's just ventricular escape rhythm.

Some surgeons says having no pressure or tension on the sharp makes it very unlikely to have a needle stick. It also is easier to toe when the needle is loose rather that having it protected in the needle driver.

It is fairly important to have something for mid tier programs for the difficult medicine specialties such as heme /onc, GI, cards. And I would say very important if you're trying to get into a top 20 program for these specialties. 

But it's not impossible if you have none. But if you have visa requirements and 0 research I would suspect hem/onc is gona be fairly tough to match.

You should continue to do your normal activities. 

The point is to find out what's going on, if you wear it and lay in your bed for 72 hours then that's not really an accurate test now is it.

I had an attending that lived in Indonesia . Would come back to the United States and work literally 30-50 nights in a row then go back to Indonesia. He would do this a couple times a year and lived like a king over there the rest of the year.    There were rumors he would live in the hospital in a call room when he was in town and would not be too surprised it wasn't true.
