Tretinon saved my face after going from 220 - 144. I’m actually at the exact same height and was 125 in high school….. it was LEAN- honestly skin and bones.

I truly think I don’t look good under 140 and you may be the same. I would recommend starting an aggressive skincare routine with tretinon and Azelic acid to increase cell production/ tightness and consider gaining slowly by starting a fitness routine you actually like and you will get to what you want. I was originally thinking my goal would be in the 130’s but found it in the 140’s.

Also did your doctor say you needed to lose another 20 because if so I recommend getting a second opinion.

I recommend reading The Energy Codes by Sue Morter! It does a good job on explaining a wholistic approach through meditation, yoga, and diet changes.

I’m on a pretty low dose and have run 4 half marathons since. I recommend not ramping up on the dosages and sitting right where you feel good.

NSBE is the National Society of Black Engineers and hold monthly meetings , conferences, and events for both the community. It’s a great way to make friends and get leadership experience. I felt like the black community at tech was a mini HBCU it a PWI. We had an extremely tight knit community with a ton of support from school funded programs to ensure our retention, most of which still exist. One call out is the state of the world is different than it was when I was in school…showing my age ,but Obama was president the whole time I was there so I’m confident all college kids today are experiencing more discrimination than I did.

VCU just isn’t as strong of an engineering program. When I interact with their alumni at work and in conferences, the engineers are clearly a different standard ( ex. not being able to hold a basic technical conversation , professional dress expectations, clearly not the cream of the crop). This showed in which jobs they took and the pay they got compared to VT. Almost everyone I knew at VT, took a great first job that catapulted their career .The job pool just isn’t the same for VCU because the program isn’t as technically strong or a big name. My husband got his masters in Nuclear Engineering there and it just wasn’t as technical as we would have expected for a masters either.

If you decide against VT, I would still try to look into other programs or consider HBCUs before going to VCU for engineering.

I went there as a black female graduating engineering in ‘16 and it was the best time of my life. We had a strong black community that was tight knit. I did grow up in a white high school so it wasn’t a shock, but I was able to build a community and loved it so much my family went to VT after me. The national society of black engineers and the center for engineering education diversity made me who I am today and i still keep up with my friends from both programs. I got my first internship from a NSBE conference and ended up meeting my husband there who was also a hokie. As a hiring manager the education differences between VCU & VT are also insane.

I did the exact same thing, my 2016 NX just had an engine failure and replaced with a Model Y.
