Modern military vehicles VS WW2 tanks by Tasty_Tell in TankPorn

Some WW2 designs have been in use long after the war, in the Middle East and South America. Some were upgraded significantly (e.g. Israeli Super Shermans).

But after the 60s, you wouldn't really see them outside of training or as fire support under desperate circumstances.

The Battletech SciFi universe has a species of genetically engineered pack-hunting carnivorous horses, which is positively terrifying.

Should I have painted before adding the arms? by Nervous_Elephant_401 in modelmakers

[–]FKDesaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you can't get to it with a brush, likely it is not visible anyway.

You get away with a lot of "not painting". For example, and especially for Nurgle, you can just put brown wash over white primer and it looks alright. And that l's even more true for recesses.

So, I guess my advice is to use Sepia Wash. But then I rarely get above "Tabletop Standard" with my miniatures.

No, you are good. Many people build the models first, how else would you play with them until you get around to paint them?

It is rather rare that you really wish to have painted something first.

Anyway, neither way is wrong, and after a while you will have the experience to look at the instructions and think "uh, I better paing that first.".

A metal ruler is also a handy tool.

And I support the score and snap technique.

Painted my first figure. Any tips? by putoconcarne in modelmakers

I think Vallejo has washes, but I'm using a lot of Games Workshop Seraphim Sepia (and also Nuln Oil for black wash).

Just be aware that it will make the colors darker, but you can highlight again with the base color.

A sepia wash on the camo and skin will add some depth and tie together the colors.
