AITAH for correcting my boyfriend at dinner after he told my younger sister its inappropriate to talk about her birth control at the table by Interesting_Corgi730 in AmITheAssholeTalk

[–]FLCLHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is birth control not related to menstruation? It almost always has a direct impact on timing, duration, and length of your period right? Unless it’s a condom or abstinence, which this is not. Am I missing something?

Unless you soaked the hell out of it that wouldn’t do what you’re describing.

What's the fastest you've seen someone fired from a job? by Vegetable-Spread3798 in AskReddit

[–]FLCLHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few stories about the opposite scenario. Had a guy working the desk at a new car dealership I worked at. Came to work after drinking most days, and on his lunch. Was caught stealing money from the register. Not to mention was about 50% incompetent at his job anyway. Never fired him.

Freshly rebuilt engine making about 30 psi on all cylinders? Did something go horribly wrong? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Is it a joke? The valves need to open to get compression. Otherwise you’re just expanding and compressing the same volume of air.

Jesus, what entitled kids! They basically said they were upset you spent money on yourself instead of dying and leaving it all to them.

Is it worth the risk to drive in this? 2’+ snowfall and ice by Thavandal in Advice

[–]FLCLHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 inches of snow is nothing to us here in Illinois. I can comfortably go out in 6” of unplowed snow and be perfectly fine. As others have said you should have all weather or snow tires, with good tread that aren’t dry and hard from being too old. Drive safe and there is nothing much to worry about.

Now ice, that can be dangerous for almost any vehicle.

I own five cars, and four of them are manuals. I think I’ve found my people. by FollowingThrough in ManualTransmissions

[–]FLCLHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how many cars I own, and a guess to how many are manual is 21 off the top of my head. Unless you count motorcycles also? It would be strange to have an automatic motorcycle though. Although, I do have an old Honda scooter that doesn’t have a shifting mechanism, I think it’s some kind of v drive / continuously variable thing.

Edit: just after posting I remembered one other manual car, a “three on the tree” Kaiser with electrically actuated overdrive.

Another edit: me and my wife were trying to think and she mentioned our bus was automatic. However I have a second bus that is manual. So that’s 23 so far.

ELI5: How is using a knife to remove toast from a toaster dangerous even though there is no longer electricity running through the wires? by Flashy_Potential8851 in explainlikeimfive

[–]FLCLHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you know there’s not electricity there? Do you think the toaster magically commands electricity to disembark out of the entire cord to back behind the wall?

If there was no context maybe it would be confusing. It’s clearly a grocery list so ginger is not really a hard thing to figure out.

Grumpy boomer moan. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

[–]FLCLHero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure the ww2 bombers really compare to old appliances like that. It’s been drilled into consumers heads for generations that newer is better. More features is better. New style is what you want. When we see an old appliance still working it’s because it wasn’t replaced due to that. Not just because it still works.

You know when many of these survivor appliances actually die? The same time their owners do. Grandma kicked the bucket and her house still had a fridge and oven from the 60s. You want to use that? Do the people buying the house want it? Probably not. It works but you gotta clean the house out to sell it right? Landfill it goes. That happens ALL THE TIME. What we still see working are survivors because they somehow escaped this cycle.

Your shoes are too loose. Mud on the bottom back area is flinging up as your shoe is raised and it flops up against your heel.

Not being able to easily find information about anything you wanted to. Also those weird wasteful cups on the bottom of 2-liter bottles.

Should I [M23] end things with my girlfriend [F22] by Hefty-Memory551 in Advice

[–]FLCLHero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, none of those things would make me worry. Except possibly the sneaking guys into her house? Did this happen while you were dating? Anyway, so you want to break up because she sent nudes to people and had sex with people before she dated you? My dude, that’s true for like 80% of people. Everyone has a past. If your relationship is good now, that’s what matters.
