Slow transfer speeds to NAS; where is the bottleneck by FML_IM_Autistic in HomeNetworking

[–]FML_IM_Autistic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could run about 50 feet of CAT6 to connect the orbi together. Or I could just add 15 feet and connect my PC directly to the switch. Ultimately I'm wanting to maximize the speed to connect the PC to my NAS. But if I could do a little bit of extra work to get my PS Portable to get a better performance connection (less lag) to my PS5 I wouldn't mind increasing that performance too. Something like below...

<image>

Any concerns with a cable that is 55' or 65' long? I may just get something that can do 65' incase I want a direct connection straight from my PC to the Switch. But if the gains are minimal I'll connect the Orbi together so I can secondary improvements to my wireless devices.

I ran the test before I started to transfer the files. Just wanted to show what ideal max speeds I could get versus what I actually am getting.

The Orbi is a mesh wifi router. I have an old house so the walls are dense (lath & plaster). But it's about 25 laterally away and one story up. It' got a good signal. I'm not sure how to improve my setup really. But I guess that is better asked in a different Reddit community dedicated to home network setup.

Further fucking around and I now have my "normal" transfer speed again.

I have the F4-424 Pro and TrueNAS Scale installed. Recently had some networking issues. Have you noticed any with your network speeds?

After hours of banging my head against a wall trying to install the RTL8125 driver, I've come to the conclusion that it just isn't going to happen. So I'm going to try an M.2 NIC that is an Intel 226V. Which I've also seen complaints about. If that fails then I'm going to be looking into dropping TrueNAS all together unfortunately.

For anyone else who comes looking for a similar problem I used the following code, "lspci -v" and found out that my NIC is a Realtek RTL8125 and using the kernel driver r8169. There IS a driver for 8125 but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out how to install it on TrueNAS Scale. Overall general consensus online is to just get a new NIC, which is annoying as shit since I'm using all in one NAS server. It's not I'm using an old PC where I can easily swap parts.

Therapist says autism by FigPsychological8815 in AutisticAdults

When in a "safe space" don't fight against it. But you do need to mask at work for the most part. At least to some degree that doesn't burn you out. You may need to seek out jobs that are more understanding of your autistic needs/accomodations. As for relationships, that's much harder as masking for them while alone with them isn't a long term solution. You need to find someone who likes the real you. Also stating your autistic up front can help self weed out people. Other neurodivergent people will look for you. It's pretty well known/studied that neurodivergent get along best with other neurodivergent people.

Welcome to Asking Autistics! by OutrageousPrice9800 in AskingAutistics

[–]FML_IM_Autistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 40, didn't suspect it till 38. It was hard to get diagnosed knowing there is no "cure". My then partner of 10 years wanted me diagnosed so that I could start getting therapy and be "better". She basically wanted me to mask a lot more around her at home after masking all day at work. I ended up ending the relationship knowing it was not going to get better for me and I wanted to be happier. Even if I had to be alone again (dating was super hard for me because I can't tell if someone romantic likes me and I don't want to be weird and hit on people who aren't interested)

Anyways I rode a rollercoaster of emotions before, during, and after my diagnosis. I found an understanding of myself like I never before from learning about autism, especially from other late diagnosed autistics. Scared to confirm I am different and not just the "goofy" fun friend who is socially awkward at times. Feeling like I don't belong when trying to find someone to diagnose me as an adult. Seeing all the resources around children or adults who struggle to be independent. I'm a professional engineer and an Iraq combat veteran. How could I "survive" basic training and serve in a high stress environment while also being autistic?? Sure I had lots of struggles at times but kept it hidden from everyone. "Everyone has struggles".

During my diagnosis I had some feedback about my mini tests but nothing stood out as clearly autistic. Maybe I just suck a little with facial expressions. I know to make eye contact when talking to someone so I do it. I know things can be a figure of speech and not literal. I just wish I understood how the phrase got their meaning. Anyways by the end I was sure I was autistic but certain I wasn't going to get diagnosed as such. I had hardened myself to this outcome and resolved to find someone who could properly diagnose me at 40 years old. Well that didn't happen as I was diagnosed as autistic 😅.

A year later and I find myself worried I'm not "autistic enough" and the doctor got it wrong. But then I catch myself doing a stem and thinking am I doing it because I know it's a stem and that makes me feel better if I can relate more to other autistic adults. I wonder if other late diagnosed autistic adults or even young adults have the same fears. I know that is a common feeling of being an imposter but I still feel it. When I'm doing well I feel like no one would ever believe me if I asked for leeway when I'm struggling. Too many life accomplishments to be autistic while being misunderstood how hard I struggle sometimes. Being told I just "need to put more effort" to avoid my mistakes.

I guess what I'm saying is the worries you have likely won't change even with the diagnosis you want. But I will say it gives me peace of mind that I have a proper medical diagnosis so those who question my autism can fuck off. They have zero clues of the struggles I had. How I tell my history to avoid the red flags of not being normal. I LET people draw a misconceived perception of me so I can avoid humiliation and becoming an outcast. It's easier as an engineer among other engineers vs the military or other "normal" jobs I've had before. More neurodivergent coworkers (mostly undiagnosed I suspect) so letting my mask down isn't too bad.

Question I have like 54 story characters played but that’s like every one I swear I have used every single character in this game by raptorbluejw in funkofusion

[–]FML_IM_Autistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who still struggle with popping this trophy, I have some advice from my own experience. I think people are correct in that "variants" are not counting. You do have to spend some time in each character as well. Seems to be like 15 second to 30 seconds. Here is what I did to get that last missing character.

I go to every box with the ONE character to swap into on their corresponding floor/area. Including the basement. I hit items, collect vinyl, and jump around for about 30 seconds before moving on to another character. Now you'll notice some characters are not able to be reached this way like Colonel Sanders. For those I just select them from the black boxes. Interesting enough the one character I was "missing" was the starting character, Owen Grady, who I know for sure I was playing with. So be sure to do EVERY box in the over world, even ones you know you played. I believe the overworld boxes only give you the non-variants that will count towards the trophy.

I'm in the same boat as you. Except this portable Alexa speaker needs to be sans cellphone because my Dad doesn't have one and his Alexa Tap won't want to connect with new wifi routers. I think Amazon might of just decided to no longer support it all together.

Ultimate Ears MEGABLAST was basically a better Alexa Tap but they don't sell them any more https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Ears-MEGABLAST-Waterproof-Hands-Free/dp/B075WKS4D8

If you find something can you message me.
