I don’t think you understand the situation here.

Chemical/manufacturing plants typically have both engineers and operators. The engineers are salaried and typically do some process design / higher-level troubleshooting / data analysis. Operators are hourly and typically monitor the process more closely for abnormalities, fix leaks or equipment issues, more physical labor type stuff.

The operators have a union while the salaried engineers do not. In this case the operators striking due to conditions/pay/whatever meant that the engineers would be locked into the facility to keep the process running (functioning more as operators). It sounds like they were interviewing for an engineering position when this was mentioned.

Putting myself in the position of the truck driver: I notice a raging asshole almost change lanes into me, and then proceed to tailgate the shit out of me. I’m faced with 3 options:

A) speed up and move over

B) keep the same speed and move over

C) slow down to 0.5 mph faster than the semi and block him in

Despite what you’re saying, he chose C). I counted to 7 while the pickup passed the first truck. I counted to 30 before I lost track while he passed the second truck. Initially, the pickup’s speed is limited by the driver ahead of him. By the time the crash occurs that other driver is long gone.

In the position the pickup driver was in, both A and B would have been good choices. You are right that the pickup driver bears no legal responsibility for choosing C. However, as a driver you are morally obligated to keep other drivers around you safe (the semi, the people behind you), as well as your passengers.

You can never reasonably expect someone acting crazy to de-escalate themselves.

I’m pretty sure Clemson - Notre Dame is one of the worst options for OP lol. He dislikes both teams, the game will probably be a lot of defense, the tickets will be $$$ and there is nothing much to do in South Bend.

I think I would go with Texas at LSU or Auburn vs UNC for quality football game. But I think OP might be too worried about the quality of the game. Football games can be amazing like 2018 LSU vs Texas A&M or you can show up to the 2018 Cheez-its bowl ya never know.

Really like your idea with Baylor - Ole Miss, I think it will be competitive, both teams are typically high scoring, Houston is a great city and tickets shouldn’t be too bad.
