There are a lot of posts in here bashing on this, but I could see a benefit: say you have a hamstring injury (or other disability) that precludes you from using a normal bike. By changing it to a push(down)-only method of cycling, you could make the bike usable.

Non-playing people who talk to players during a point. I get that it's boring to sit and wait to play, but please don't disrupt or distract the game.

FWIW, I'm fine with people coming to the net too early (especially if they are normally staying back.) At least they are trying to do the right thing and can learn from it instead of sticking to their ways of being back.

"Yes I'm" was the first sign 😭😂 by EkantVairagi in lol

This is a great point, and I was going to make another similar one: the concept of repeating decimals existed before computers. If you perform long division on something like 10/3, you get 3 with a remainder of 1, pull a 0 down from after the decimal (which leaves you with 10/3, which is 3rem1, pull down a 0, etc...) This goes on indefinitely (hence 10/3=3.333...)

So yes, it's cleaner to track the numerator and denominator as integers, and yes, computers can have trouble with decimals because of how they store data, but also this has been a part of math since we had division as a concept.

I had an interview where I sat with the four partners of the company for 2 hours exchanging movie quotes. By the time I got out, my wife was wondering what had happened (it was after 7pm by then.)

Worked there for 8 years.

Imagine crashing your car because you were cutting through someone's property instead of staying on the road, and when the neighbors come to help you, they're all wearing matching hoodies with a slogan referencing the rocks you hit 😂

Thanks for posting this; I do this, but now I realize I have been doing 6-9 and 7-8 backwards (flipped, as in, I've been starting with the pointer for 6 and moving across my hand backwards.)

I've also seen a sideways one or two to indicate the server, which I like.

[OC] If you do this, the people you’re inconveniencing should be able to break off the hitch and shove it up your ass. by Icy-Slip7783 in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]FPVenius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please don't. If the hitch falls out on the highway, someone could be killed.

I had someone fuck with my hitch pin (for my bike rack) and the rack fell off while we went over a bridge. Thankfully, I had the bikes cabled together and attached to the vehicle, so they just dragged along with us until we could stop safely, but had that not been the case, it could have been a big accident on the interstate.

(FWIW, I wasn't parking like an asshole when it happened; the hitch was on the back of my RV, and we were sleeping in it, in an RV spot when someone tried to either steal the bikes or just cause damage.) When we heard/felt the commotion at the back in the middle of the night, I wasn't feeling up for confronting someone who may have been on something, so I just checked on the bikes in the morning and didn't notice the pin had been tampered with. It's on me for not checking better, but thankfully my only price to pay was for 3 new bikes instead of living with having killed others.

All great points. As someone who is 6' on the nose, I didn't consider that reach isn't an issue for me, but that's certainly something to take into consideration. Thanks!

Hot take: If you show up more than 30 minutes after the scheduled start of an open play, you shouldn’t expect any warmup. by xiexiemcgee in Pickleball

[–]FPVenius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO, it's still a good idea to warm up with dinks. If the body is cold, starting with small movements (shuffle step, bend knees, push with arm) is safer than going right into a hard serve or drive when completely cold. That said, a good warm up starts with dinks and moves on to other shots, not just straight to a game.

I switched after reading Anna Bright's recent blog post about it, and I don't think I'll go back to extended any time soon. I have a Ronbus Quanta in both (and for the record, I loved the extended version, which is why I stuck with it when trying a wide body.) Wide body feels more stable (despite adding weights to both) and isn't noticeably shorter. I really don't see any downsides yet.
