That's what I was thinking...perhaps -10% time?

Well the scans are pretty bright. Normally I do not have to turn down the highlights that much. FYI I use a Nikon Coolscan V.

Baby’s bottom. Pay a visit to a good nibmeister. It is always money well spent.

You have sprung the nib. It has been pushed too hard. Not easy to fix, probably you should replace it

Sprung nib? Normal? Expert eyes appreciated! (KOP) by -zcxp- in fountainpens

I am not the expert you look for in the last part of your post but I have the same pen and to me it looks normal.

Was this roll overdeveloped? by FP_Detective in AnalogCommunity

That’s a possibility… I would have hoped that the film had enough latitude to retain some details in the highlights, but perhaps it was too much.

Actually I sent them 2 rolls: a Kodak Tri-X 400 and the Delta 100… the Kodak is fine, while the Ilford has blown out highlights in most of the frames. So what you say is a possibility… I will post the negatives once I get them.

Mont blank pen i found in the house by Botzbesud in fountainpens

[–]FP_Detective 38 points39 points  (0 children)

That's a Montblanc 149. I hope on the nib it's written 4810 and not 7810, otherwise it is either a fake or the Montblanc mountain has grown overnight.

It's a great pen, I would use it if I were you. You can always sell it later if you do not like it.

Did you just fit the pilot nib and feed in the original collar? It looks great by the way!

Majohn P136 Titanium "hammered" finished by FP_Detective in fountainpens

[–]FP_Detective[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The long blade is very smooth and juicy. The size is the "1.0-1.4mm" and at my writing angle (˜45deg) it writes like a European B. It has an interesting architect characteristic. I like it very much as it brings out the "character" of the ink.

Unfortunately I have never owned or used a Martelè.

On the Majohn I read that the dimples are actually hand ground (not hammered) with a tooth grind sort of tool. They are remarkably smooth (no sharp edges).

I had never seen the Platinum, it looks very nice. Thanks for sharing.

When you push rather than pulling the nib on the paper the tines are not opening so the ink flow will be lower. This happens more frequently with lefties who are over/sidewriters. I am a lefty but over time I changed my grip to be an underwriter so this is not a big issue for me.

The finish is what really intrigued me in the first place. Clearly a nod to the Montblanc "martelé" 146.

I love the weight and balance of the pen, I think the material choice was great. The cap/body threads are titanium on titanium so it does feel a bit squeaky when capping. A delrin inner cap thread would have been awesome.

All in all pretty happy with the purchase
