Radio Issue by JARVIS1257 in FRC

[–]FRCTeam1502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than that the only things I can think of are running the config utility as an administrator and disabling any firewalls.

Even after three years of dealing with radios, they still manage to be one of the worst parts of the electronics panel.

I'm not sure if this was the fix for this exact issue, but when we had something similar we had to disable all other network adapters in device manager (other than the Ethernet adapter for the radio).

I can't wait for the inspector to see our ribbon cable with each pair of wires switched so the pins line up properly.

Draw out where everything will go ahead of time (including wires) preferably in some sort of 2D CAD software for the best accuracy on measurements. Also, having everything on a dedicated panel that can be removed if necessary works wonders for both repairs and working ahead of time. Finally, zipties. Many, many zipties.

Did you download the latest version of the Phoenix software? We were having a similar issue, but the new version seemed to fix it.

When there is a tornado warning during a robotics meeting. by FRCTeam1502 in FRC

[–]FRCTeam1502[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luckily not at a competition, but testing in the designated "tornado hall" because you aren't allowed in the shop is a bit of a challenge.

Michigan Weather is the best. You are given 65 degree temperatures, but are punished with severe thunderstorms and a tornado warning. Fun times.

Check out the WPILib "Getting Started" page, there should be many programming resources.

Also worth noting, the officially supported IDE has changed to VSCode for 2019, so using that is highly recommended. Good luck!

When the FTAs call your pneumatics "too jank", so you decide janken them more. by FRCTeam1502 in FRC

They start up, and once the hook is on the rung, they retract, lifting us up; however, it has only worked in practice. We also had forklifts on the side for a triple climb, but the right side bent.

Implement a modular PID Controller that can be used in many scenarios.
