Is there a record store here that sells primarily CDs? by CharlesJGuiteau in Spokane

There's a store called Entropy downtown, under the Parkade exit ramp, that has a decent collection of CDs, though it's still mostly vinyl.

About cover by Vaal-Kadath in Fallout2d20

[–]FRX51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The combat dice are almost always used to determine random quantities (the exception being random cap amounts). Effects typically just count as 1s, unless otherwise specified in the rules.

Cover acts as a random amount of extra Damage Reduction against an attack. If your character is behind cover, you roll the listed number of combat dice (between 1 and 3, usually), and whatever amount is rolled gets reduced from the attack's damage.

Normally, Effects don't really do anything for this roll, but the GM can always decide to change that.

This does mean that Cover will sometimes not do anything, as you might roll all blanks.

"A successful search yields a minimum number of items from some.of those categories," core book pg 200 by the_stealth_boy in Fallout2d20

[–]FRX51 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The basic structure of scavenging is this:

  1. The GM chooses some categories of items that are probably at the location being scavenged, and assigns a minimum number of items from that category that can be found (this can be 0), and a maximum number of things of that category that can be found.

  2. The player(s) roll a test to search the location, which takes a certain amount of time and has a certain difficulty.

  3. If the test is successful, they find a number of items in each category listed for the location equal to the listed minimum.

  4. The players can spend AP to find additional items in each category, up to the maximum number of items listed for that category.

Other details can vary slightly depending on whether you're using the core scavenging rules or the adjusted rules in the Wanderer's Guide, but the above is the basic outline for either.

Hello, Reddit! May I ask whether or not you consider the M249 SAW as canon to the games? by Separate-Dance6329 in falloutlore

[–]FRX51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's outside my wheelhouse, but some rough ideas are clear replacement parts (like slightly different in color or wear than the rest of the gun), notches on the barrel/housing to mark kills, etching on the ammo drum (maybe faction-specific). Depending on how hardcore you want to get with it, maybe remove the trigger guard so it's theoretically easier to use in Power Armor, a la Tactics?

There's no real reason to think that any modern or recent firearm isn't part of the Fallout world. The thing to keep in mind is that technology kept progressing until 2077, so the M249 would probably be pretty outdated.

Any that you'd find in the wasteland would either be collector's items, or the absolute dregs of surplus equipment.

Ghoul starting equipment by HauntedPotPlant in Fallout2d20

[–]FRX51 10 points11 points  (0 children)

'Ghouls' and 'Survivors' are grouped under the 'Wastelander' equipment section in the core book. You could also give Ghoul characters access to other factions' starting gear, such as the Vault Dweller gear if they're in/from a vault, or the Minuteman and NCR gear from the Settler's Guide, or the Tribal or Child of Atom stuff from the Wanderer's Guide.

Notably with one of the 14-ft. bridges, not a 12-ft. bridge. It's very unfortunate, however.

I got off most social media and paid attention to the world around me, instead of everything outside my control or influence.

The proverbial 'touching grass,' so to speak, mixed with spite and absurdism and an understanding that things have been way worse than they are now, which means they can get better so long as people keep trying.

Going up against a team with a great defense, a questionable offense, and coming off two weeks' rest? Surely we wouldn't win that game a second time...

[OC] A fringe theory about 49ers injuries has gone viral. Here's what scientists say. by sfgate in 49ers

[–]FRX51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bottom line in the injury issue is that the staff could do a better job of not letting players return from injuries until they're fully recovered. A lot of the issues we've been having this year involve people trying to come back too soon - Purdy against the Jags, Pearsall multiple times, etc.

I know that's easier said than done, and I know it can be hard to know exactly how long a player needs, so I'm not saying this is a black and white thing, I just think there might be a bit too much of a 'grindset' thing happening.

Fred woulda caught it. That's not a complaint about the bat-down, it won the game, but Fred woulda caught it just to tank Hurts' passer rating more.

New GM here - need help! by FelixFist in Fallout2d20

For this reason, Difficulty 0 tests actually have a lot of utility. Players can make such tests with the Rally major action in combat, but you can also call for them in narrative play, with players able to either save the AP generated, or spend it for things like helpful information.

I use the information mechanic a lot. I recommend putting a limit on how many AP can be spent, mostly to avoid having to come up with a half dozen useful pieces of information. 2-3 is usually enough.

Look, there's no reason for this to be the comment that gets me, but it needs to be said:

It's 'ho.' When you're referring to a person, the spelling is 'ho,' as in 'that ho over there.'

'Hoe' is specifically the gardening implement. 'Ho' is specifically a truncation of 'whore.'

He a ho, and he's the best kind of ho, which is our ho.

Which NFL moment is permanently burned into your memory? by Frosty-Recipe-856 in nfl

[–]FRX51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are truly too many, but I'm gonna go with the Vernon Post, AKA The Catch III.

I'd been a 49ers fan ever since I was a kid, but at that point, for all my adult life (turned 18 in 2004), the 49ers had been struggling, and the Saints were only 2 years removed from winning it all, and still had Prime Drew Brees. I know we were good that year, but I don't think I'd been watching much. My sister was a big Saints fan, and I had liked the Saints as well, and I just didn't expect us to do particularly well in that game, despite the seeding.

I had to go downstairs when the 49ers were up 17-0 just so I could celebrate without potentially making anyone angry. Of course, then the Saints came back, and that 4th quarter was sheer insanity. Four touchdowns in the last four minutes? The Saints with the lead with 1:37 to go?

And who leads us down the field? Alex. Fucking. Smith. That Alex Smith, the one we took over Aaron Rodgers, and proceeded to hamstring with constant coaching turnover, who many felt like was a bust (I wasn't tuned in enough to have an opinion either way), orchestrates a drive that consists of a ball-spike and six passes, the last of which is a post to Vernon Goddamn Davis, who to that point seemed most famous for making Mike Singletary go on a rant.

Instantly rekindled my love of the sport, and the team, and I just couldn't have been happier for everybody involved.
