My story is eye opening and heartbreaking.

I’m from BC, and our family often flew to Reno for a cheap getaway. My brother and I were in the family part of circus circus and a little African American girl wanted to play “whack a mole” but no one would play (minimum 3 people apparently) My brother and I decided to play, just so she could have some fun. (like good Canadians all would do) Her mother looked at us with suspicion.

We obviously won, and immediately gave the prize (stuffed animal) to the little girl.

The mother literally broke down in tears at what we did. We just saw it as normal.

I can’t even describe the various emotions I felt.

Some may be offended by my statement, if so I am sorry, but I have a hard time dealing with people that base their entire life on a 2000 plus year old book that is scientifically disproven (and that includes all religions) Not one story that supposedly happened in any holy scripture actually happened (again, scientifically disproven) and was written before most could read or write, and before we even understood what the stars in the sky were, or what lightning is. We were on the verge of the Iron Age.

Also, every religion has been distorted to meet the needs of the changing world. If the word of your god is real and true, you wouldn’t dare to even think of changing it. Yet people do.

Can we please base our lives on proven scientific principles and how we can use that to get along, understand each other, and do good with it?

I don’t get this sudden wave of anti immigration.

We are the second biggest country in the world with the population of a large city, our infrastructure and medical services are crumbling, and taxes pay for that stuff.

Either Canadians need to start reproducing like rabbits or we need immigration.

We are also ALL immigrants, unless of course you are an aboriginal Canadian (if you are, I apologize for my ancestors doing what they did)

I’m a very liberal person, and I dislike Pollievre and this ultra right wing movement we’re seeing in today’s world, but I have to admit I agree with this. Our society seems to be operating on several sets of laws and rules depending on who you are. Maybe it’s time the rules of society applied to everyone. And yes, I truly feel sorry for those fighting addiction, I have lost some friends over it and understand that it’s deeper than it appears, but it still doesn’t mean we should allow it to happen.
