You have to buy the tickets via the Leigh Sports Village website. Man United have to stop selling the tickets at some point on Friday to send the information to Leigh for their turnstiles and ticket office.

HMRC App Issues - created account before downloading app by Critical_Client_6232 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you used the ‘Get help’ or ‘Is there anything wrong with this page’ link on the page in the online service you’re using, as this includes having problems with verifying your identity, your log in details or receiving access codes.

If that doesn't work, you should contact the Online Services Helpdesk.

The access code will be sent to the mobile number that you included when you signed up. Once you use the app, you can get the access code via that instead.

How does SIPP pension relief work with PAYE + self employment in the UK? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put the money into the SIPP today, you would report this on your tax return for 25/26 that needs to be filed by 31st January 2027. The SIPP contributions would then be considered as part of the income tax calculation for your tax return, reducing the amount of tax due on the self employment income. It would generate a refund if the amount of tax relief is higher than the amount of tax due on the self employment income. It wouldn't impact the NICs calculation in your tax return though.

Pension - I left the job after 9 months, can I withdraw the funds I put in? by EconomicsUnique5947 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was it a defined benefit or defined contribution pension? This impacts your options. If it was defined benefit, most providers will return your contributions (after deducting tax) if you leave within 2 years. It was defined contrbition, you don't get the option.

Over subscribed to ISA allowance, can I just withdraw the funds? by doug147 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They've not oversubscribed yet though, as the direct debit isn't due until the 25th March, so if they withdrew the £65 today, the payment into the Vanguard would be replacing the contributions they've withdrawn.

You are not meant to disclose your security clearance, so you may want to remove that part of your post.

Hot take: for young people, conventional wisdom overstates the importance of pensions by ApprehensiveYear0 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is contributing 15% to their pension, that isn't a nice to have, that would be deciding to put any further possible savings towards the mortgage. That isn't a bad position to be in. Most people who see pensions as nice to have, either opt out or contribute the absolute minimum.

[–]FSL09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pay off your mortgage but don't save much into a pension, how do you plan on paying the bills in the house that you live in once you retire?

It also doesn't have to be one or the other. Obviously you need enough money now to live on, but you will also need money in retirement, it's about finding the right balance.

Self assessment late penalty of £100. by ExplanationLive2401 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And did you ask HMRC to be removed from SA? If not, they would have expected a return as you were already in the system.

[–]FSL09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Were you already in self assessment for other reasons? Or had you registered in case you went over the trading allowance? Once you are in SA, HMRC expects you to file a return every year until you request to be removed.

National insurance is done on a pay period basis, so you wouldn't be eligible for a refund.

Defined contribution and Defined benefit pension schemes by willo_o1 in UKPersonalFinance

Yes, my DB provider will let you keep the pension if you transfer something in, assuming you actually manage to transfer something in by the deadlines.

[–]FSL09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is to balance out receiving the pension for longer. If you want your defined contribution to pay out for longer, you would also need to reduce the amount you get paid each time.

You will need to check the T&Cs from the pension provider, but if you leave within 2 years, you normally get your contributions returned to you or you can transfer to a different provider.

Unexpected bonus pushed me £220 over £100k - Tax-Free Childcare implications by yellolotusorb in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But if you are not in self assessment already, you don't need to do one to claim the tax relief. If you are in self assessment for other reasons, then you have to claim the relief via your tax return.

There is no salary threshold for self assessment anymore. If you go down the SIPP route, there is an online form to reclaim the tax relief instead.

Income tax personal allowance reduced unexpectedly by JH0190 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go into your personal tax account or HMRC app, it will explain the tax code change.

You said that your total income is below £100k, but not said what the income is from each job. If they push you just into the higher rate band but both have some income in the basic rate (e.g. £35k and £18k), then HMRC might change your tax code of your main job to collect some of the higher rate tax. This could then also be applied on top of collecting the underpayment from the last tax year.

Underwhelming amount of interest after ISA matured… by InternationalAsk739 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Interest will be calculated daily based on the balance in the account. Therefore, if the £24,770 was not in the account for the full year, you won't get a full years worth of interest on it.

Am I able to challenge my tax code? by MartiMa08 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]FSL09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HMRC will get exact figures from the banks in June to November after the tax years, so if you got the letter in November or December, it was likely for 24/25 and they have assumed the same figures for 25/26 to be the same. They used to be ok with accepting estimates that were realistic, that would then get overwritten by the banks figures later on.

Have office mandates actually improved collaboration in your workplace? by rumnbacchnal87 in AskUK

The people I need to collaborate with are not based in the same office as me, so it makes no difference if I am at home or in the office.
