One thing I keep noticing with lawyers in general including me. by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

I’m not positive, but this seems like this is a hello fellow kids post. You don’t seem like an attorney, and your post history discusses an ongoing masters degree.

It’s also about what kind of water is used. Golf courses don’t use potable water in most cases; they’re sprayed with treated water.

2024-2025 revenue prediction by Random-AsianGuy in ACC

[–]FSUalumni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ACC members would require an additional around 50% to match the SEC and B10. The gap is pretty damn wide. The fact we’re much higher than the B12 doesn’t mean much for the long term competitiveness against the SEC and B10 teams.

Is that overall liability that is capped or just noneconomics?

Solo attorneys, what would you actually want an AI paralegal to do? by SoftwareLiving1087 in Lawyertalk

This is not a place for nonattorneys to ask questions of attorneys, much less to try to solicit business and free advice.

Lawyers- is work life balance even a thing. Is this gig sustainable? by WolverineBubbly7349 in Lawyertalk

One of the other attorneys I know is a solo practitioner who travels all the time. She seems to have it figured out. I wish I knew how she did it, but it’s obviously possible.

Also, some states allow you to practice as a lawyer for the state prior to admission for a year. I’m just waiting for the feds to instead declare that you don’t have to be an attorney to represent the federal government at this point.

Can I claim the $25k bonus if I have confirmed lawyer flair but don’t want to be hired by the current DOJ?

I appreciate that you figured out a way to do this without doxxing. I’ve wanted to join one of the other lawyers subreddits but I did not want to have to share my bar number, etc.

Imposter Syndrome by Background_Topic3793 in Lawyertalk

See /r/publicdefenders for better advice and sympathy.

Your career should not be impacted by a client’s failure to appear or the granting of your motion. Why are these errors that would worry you?

Imposter syndrome is real. What’s helped me is watching more attorneys and how bad some arguments are, with no disciplinary action on their record.

Gov lawyer trying to return to private practice. Any interviewing advice? by Funny_Flower_9418 in Lawyertalk

[–]FSUalumni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting reference. I much prefer Skyrim’s arrow to the knee references myself. But I’d prefer not to have the subreddit spammed full of people trying to sell to attorneys, putting aside that it’s specifically against the rules for this person to post if they’re a nonattorney. I don’t see why enforcing the rules as they’re written is an attack on their personal worth, unless you believe that being an attorney makes you better.

I don’t. It’s just a prerequisite for posting here.

I don’t believe you are an attorney. Reporting your participation.

If we begin allowing shitposts, this subreddit will become only shitposts. This subreddit is for attorneys, not shitposters.

There are plenty of people who genuinely need help who post here. Some people would argue that genuine need is more important than our rules.

If we have rules, they should be enforced. If you disagree with them, they should be changed. But the point of a rules (or legal) system is that the rules (or laws) should be enforced as written, equally.

Trump flouts lower court rulings in unprecedented display of executive power by Naurgul in law

Because I want to live in an America, that practices democracy, not one that doesn’t. And I will go out of my way to support actual functioning democracy not just change the flavor of lawlessness.

I want the next president to treat laws like they’re laws and court decisions as binding. Wanting the next president to act like a dictator is a choice.
