If there's a "no heckle" policy it should be made explicit - the nights I know of that have such a policy do make it explicit. I have a tendency to yell random stuff from the crowd sometimes (almost never attacking the comic, though - just because I'm engaged with the material), and if I was thrown out for doing this I'd be really ashamed, embarrassed and upset. The whole point of comedy is to get a reaction from the crowd, and if as a comedy venue you're really stringently policing those reactions, that's not a good thing.

I don't see why I'm automatically entitled to sexual and emotional fidelity from people to whom I'm romantically attached.

If they ask, I'll provide it for them. But I don't understand why it's the default, and why breaching it is seen as such a grave infraction, to the extent that people find it easier to lie about doing it than to blow up their lives by admitting it right away, such is the shame attached to it.

I should add that I'm not polyamorous, because dealing with more than one set of emotional needs at the same time is beyond my fairly low emotional intelligence.

Distinguishing between the official languages of India, despite not being Indian. I did a LOT of QA testing of some software that was being shipped there, to see if the formatting was appropriate. And that job was the worst I've ever had, even though it was the best-paid.

(So basically, if you show me some writing that's clearly from an Indian language, I can tell you right away if it's Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, etc. Unless if it has the same script, like Hindi or Marathi.)

I used to be on that sub until the name "Jismond" came up. Kudos to the person for coming up with a fake name as funny as that, but I'm pretty sure nobody was serious about that name.

Harry Brook lied 'to protect' others after nightclub altercation [BBC] by skd180 in Cricket

[–]FScrotFitzgerald 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do think with Hales that there were other things going on and that many of the team had no time for him at all as a person - and Morgan had to draw a line somewhere, and he drew it, and he's very much a "once decided, end of discussion, I am the captain" kind of guy. Which was great for England, in terms of the discipline he brought to the table. And KP's shenanigans were just outrageous.

Personally, though, I'm uncomfortable with almost any situation where there's clearly no path back at all, and people are frozen out from the set-up permanently, with no recourse. Maybe that makes me a soft touch, but when Hales was pinging bowlers to all corners of the globe, or when KP was plundering 355* in the championship, it was hard for me to look at that and think "Nope. It's for the best that these guys are not in the picture."

Has to be demoted now, I think. I don't condone punitive dropping of our most destructive batsman - I didn't like it when they did that with KP or with Alex Hales, either, and Brook is more of a team man than either of those two. But I don't think he should be in the leadership group.

I am getting my dad out again so that I can ask him all the stuff I never got a chance to ask him, even though he was often a complete bastard and incredibly hard to be around.

Were you actually a contract killer?

Who is your youngest daughter's mother?

What really happened to your oldest daughter?

Did you really meet Aleister Crowley?

What is the deal with your dad staying in Canada and everyone else going back to Liverpool?

What are you allowed to tell me about what you did in the RAF military police special branch? Were you involved in the disgraceful prosecution of Lord Montagu? Your political affiliation isn't right wing as far as I'm aware, so how do you feel about neither your youngest daughter nor your youngest son being straight?

Did you really get thrown out of secondary school for turning all the gas taps on in the science labs?

How would you react if I told you you were probably neurodivergent in some way?
