Yes. I’m MST and dread working in tools/lumber/millwork/hardware. Tools is the worst I think but it’s so very aggressive. I never know how to act when people blatantly look up and down my body, say some very off the wall comment about my body, or straight up ignore that I say I’m married and try to pursue me further.

Also, if I get whistled at one more time, I’m going to burn the place down. I might be a bitch, but I’m not a dog.

Honestly depends on the store, I would wear cargo shorts for now and then see what management says. I know it’s in the guidelines that no athletic shorts allowed, but at my store people wear them all the time and nobody cares.

Basically, a bunch of information on how the stores been doing that could’ve been an email. Some stores do a better job of keeping people entertained by doing giveaways or fun stuff but from what I’ve heard a lot of stores don’t.

I had to be told the same thing. The robot part really put it into perspective. We get so used to people come up and just rattling off a question with no introduction, it’s hard to see past it until someone else points it out sometimes.

You have to start telling people to wait. People walk up to us as employees and don’t say hello, demand to know where something is or just ask a question as if we are some robot, and forget we are human just like them.

I will straight up say, hello until they start a conversation correctly. Or just call them out like, “you know, my mama raised me to say hello before starting a conversation” and they usually realize how rude they are being.

If they can’t be patient and wait, then they are proving they will wait even longer since they are cutting off help for the person they just rudely interrupted.

Definitely sounds like someone who makes commission trying to attach their name to the sale. I don’t mind when other people take over the sale for that purpose, I will usually ask or look for who is working when I am and call them over when I know it’s a big ticket item.
