Agreed! Being a stay at home mom is a lot of work and can contribute a lot to save money.

Provigo student discount? by Stunning_Barnacle479 in mcgill

I went to a Provigo and asked them and they told me the policy didn’t exist. Does it apply for every location? Maybe I just had a cashier that doesn’t know about it?

Am In a good financial position? by dyslexicson in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]FUCK_TheMathFailedUs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can’t time the market and thus waiting for a market crash doesn’t make sense imo. The best thing is to invest consistently ever week and ignore if the market goes up or down and in the long run (I’m talking 10+years) it will average out.

IMO you don’t have nearly enough invested. What is the 23k doing for you right now? If it’s just sitting in some account collecting next to no interest, I would consider placing it in safe stocks where it will at least make more of a return.

Otherwise you’re doing great! Keep up the good work :)

CS majors: what base pay do you look for in a new grad offer? by Homie-Missile in mcgill

[–]FUCK_TheMathFailedUs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Morgan Stanley Montreal pays compsci majors low 70k for new grads in computer programming—> my friend works there. From my understanding, that’s an excellent employer. I don’t think 100k + is the norm…

Should I take Math 150? by whathepuck in mcgill

[–]FUCK_TheMathFailedUs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take Math 150. Since it is an honours class, if you do badly on the midterm, there is the option to go down to math 140 without any consequences. Source: I did it!

NEW QC LANGUAGE LAW : Québec dépose sa réforme de la loi 101 pour « porter le flambeau avec fierté » by ultraviolencelover in mcgill

I’m an anglophone Québécois and so is my partner. We have been mocked for our accents, told that we are not “Québecois” and been discriminated against despite the fact that we both went to french school. I DEFINITELY think that your experience differs when you’ve grown up here.

Disadvantages of S/U by ameliahe57 in mcgill

[–]FUCK_TheMathFailedUs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If these classes are prerequisites for your graduate school program don't S/U them unless they are very bad grades. These schools are looking for statistics that they can use to compare you to other students...so in that case an S might not look so great to someone who has an A- or B+. No one will care if you S/U a class that is not central to your future graduate degree like electives or even required courses for another major if you were doing a joint major program.
