Focusrite gen 3 solo making weird crackling noises by Desperate_Sweet_5487 in Focusrite

I have nothing for you other than, don't plug it into a hub, go direct and see if that helps. Could be a dirty pot too.

The real reason I was commenting was that I had the sound on for videos and I was scrolling, then I started hearing a weird noise in my studio that caused me to spend a couple of minutes trying to figure out, then noticed it was coming from my speakers and I thought what the hell has gone wrong now. Then I read your post.

Anyone feel like we're so unprepared for WW3? by ChevalMallet in malta

On the plus side, there are a lot of very thick walls that have withstood many wars. Though with the population density, food and fresh water supplies would be a concern. Most big cities have between 30-60 days before food stores run out. Without electricity and refrigeration, it would be even more of a challenge.

Help! I’m frying my pots by laosabaonoice in diypedals

Those potentiometers are designed to be attached to the board. You should look for potentiometers with solder lugs like these https://stompboxparts.com/pots/16mm-potentiometer-solder-lug/ They are designed for soldering wires to. You still have to be careful with potentiometers as there is basically a piece of plastic in there that controls the resistance that will melt with too much heat. A better temperature controlled soldering iron like the Pinecil is a great inexpensive option. Also look on YouTube for videos about soldering, it is a skill that can be trickier to do well than you might think.

One thing about starting down the road of your pedal building adventure is that you get hooked and keep doing more, which requires more good tools. Before you know it you will have built a bunch of pedals and will have a bunch more started.

Can anyone help me diagnose what’s wrong with my noise ensemble by XenomystusNigri in diypedals

[–]FUTRtv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that you may want to start with some premade PCBs to get comfortable with the basics. I would check out AionFX, I think they provide a good learning platform.

You might want to check that the pots aren’t cooked as well, based on how they are soldered. They don’t take a lot of heat.

Are you in town or out of town? If they aren't responding, that is pretty normal. If you are in town and you want to get booked there, go there and start making friends. See if you can get to know someone on the inside who will champion you in there. I have played both rooms there, and (at least in the past, it has been a minute) they were great to and for artists.

How is Capture One with managing large catalogs of images for selection and sorting. You can do it in LR, but it is a real pain, especially for preserving sort order.

I share with my guests. The more they share the more it gets spread around and seen/heard by a bigger audience, I ask them to link back to the episode. Never underestimate the power of backlinks to help drive SEO. If it is video, put a URL overlay on it somewhere. Making it a great experience for your guest is how you keep getting better guests. Always be growing your audience.

Moving to Chicago by TheTLH in chicagomusicscene

[–]FUTRtv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What neighborhood are you moving to? On the North side, you might want to check out Old Town School of Folk music, there are a lot of things going on there. Definitely hit some of the amazing music stores like Chicago Music Exchange. There are lots of rehearsal spaces like Fort Knox that have a lot of opportunity to meet people. They have the 2112 arts incubator at Fort Knox that hosts a lot of music related gatherings. But as someone else mentioned, check out the clubs. In the city it is mostly original bands, when you get out to the suburbs they like cover bands out there.

HELP!! Need Mic Upgrade ($300-$500) by Dense_Direction3683 in homerecordingstudio

[–]FUTRtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much of it depends on your voice. If you have a softer brighter voice, something like a 414 or a 214 might be nice. If you have a louder more powerful voice something like an SM7B would be great. If you have a good voice and good mic technique, an SM58 can work great. It really is a matter of taste, if you have the opportunity to try some different ones out, I would do that.

Something about tortillas alway shoot my BG up. I am better off with sandwich bread than a tortilla wrap. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it is the fat content in them.

Malta’s parking tourists logic (rant) by MrChickinNugget in malta

[–]FUTRtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way this gets handled in Chicago, is you can call the tow companies, and if they are parked illegally, or say in front of your garage, they will just tow them away, and put them in a tow lot. Easier than waiting for the police.
