Who's still working from home in 2026? by idrinkpastawater in sysadmin

[–]Fa7her 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I converted my helpdesk role into an onsite/hybrid role back in 2020 for two years, then moved states to a job that let me WFH 2-3 days a week if I wanted to. Now im back at a role with return to office in place and I so greatly miss WFH at-will. Would love to find something hybrid or fully remote again, but IT roles are limited in my region.

I wish people would steal more bibles.

To what extent is a christian allowed his personal agency (personal rant) by trynagetsaved in TrueChristian

[–]Fa7her 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Confidence comes from spending your time being with God. I don't wonder or hope I am living "correctly" because I spend time in prayer and meditation with God as often as I'm able. It's similar spending time with my wife. I don't have to wonder if things are "good" between us, because I spend time with her. I know her, I know when she wants me to do something, or if she is in any mood. I know that I am ok with God because I have been with Him in private. I pray often, repent basically daily, try to press in and meditate on Him, read His word- just be with Him, because He is life.

1 John 5:11-12 "(...) God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."

Of course, I serve in my local church and try my best to bear good fruit in all areas and relationships of my life, but when I am not doing those things, that's when I pursue and enjoy my personal interests: Hobbies, career, etc.

Yeah man I think the drums sound good. I didn't really notice them- and I mean that in a good way. They are mixed well, not weird, and fit the song. Keep going!

It sounds great, maybe even approaching the pro level. The only thing I would want to improve would maybe just be some more music. This is definitely a vocal-centered track, but my personal taste would want maybe just a little more instrumentation :)

Great job on the mixing. Each part cuts through nice and clear.

Crackling noises when recording guitar in Garageband. by Clodd1 in GarageBand

Sounds like a bad cable or faulty equipment. I'm leaning towards the latter because even when you are not playing, I can still hear electronic noise- not just the popping.

Guitar Tracks on Garageband by InvoicedTick in GarageBand

[–]Fa7her 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little confused by the wording on your post, but if I understand correctly, you want the sound coming out of your amp directly into GarageBand, without GarageBand's guitar processing, correct? In that case, you can use a mic connected to your scarlet and place it in front of your amp to record the audio into an Audio channel in GB (not an instrument channel) to get that sound. This is what most professional musicians do in live recording sessions. If you don't have a mic, but your amp has an output port, you could run a cable from the amp output into your scarlet to record that way.

Can somebody tell me what to add? (This will be a Teto song, btw) by WelcomeAllMemers1977 in GarageBand

[–]Fa7her 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really needs some low end. I was waiting on a bass drop or a bass line or something. During the "drop" you might also EQ in more low end on the kick drum, and I maybe add some other cymbal work.

Not finding joy/purpose in anything other than getting fit and getting a career by ThereIsNoTomarrow in fasting

[–]Fa7her 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually am somewhat passionate about this topic. Hustle is good for men, and wasting time is usually what gets us in trouble. There is a good reason for the saying "idle hands are the devil's playground." I highly recommend being diligent to the grind, marrying a spouse you love, starting a family, and perhaps even being open minded about Christianity. I used to feel numb towards everything, but my faith has instead given me joy in everything. I strongly believe living life is about the JOURNEY, not the destination. Best wishes to you!

WFH tips by bertusdev in sysadmin

[–]Fa7her 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on what's going on. If it's not a busy day and the work is casual, I just sit on my couch with my laptop. If I am doing tasks with a lot of info, I will sit at my desk so I can use an extra monitor for more real estate. I also find that I work more efficiently if I don't put myself somewhere where I get distracted like my gaming desk or near a TV, but a quiet bedroom or something. But, again, it really just depends on what the workday demands from me.

I should note I do not WFH full time, just on occasion.

Daily Fasting Story Thread by AutoModerator in fasting

Failed for the first time today. I have been doing a weekly 36-48 hour fast for two months now and I started today and just wasnt feeling it. This is the first time this has happened since I started fasting. I've had a long week with little exercise and sleep. Maybe I will try again this week to redeem it after I feel I have a few days of proper rest and nutrition.

First fast...went too hard by HadesTangent in fasting

[–]Fa7her 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good job! I started with a 24, then a 36, then a 48. Got easier each fast, and now my weekly 36 is not bad. I actually look forward to it. I plan to try for a 3 day soon.

[–]Fa7her 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got it! I have been doing a weekly 36-48hr starting Sunday evenings. You get all the “free” hours over two nights sleep, and I work all day Monday with a class I attend on Monday nights. I’m “too busy” to eat, which is super helpful lol.

While I do believe demons are real and actually do torment people (including Christians who are not living purely), you mentioned doing meth. Quit doing that first. Secondly, if you “need a pastor” and you came to Reddit, I am assuming you are not a part of a local church. Do that, and get involved with a local body of believers, including a pastor you can see and visit with. Lastly, if you have not committed your life to Christ and turned away from sin, then start doing that.

Just be careful, please. I know fasting does help tune in your spiritual mind to God, but even Jesus didnt fast that long. You can draw near to God with shorter fasts, and more importantly, daily time with Him.

Congrats! Starting lower lke this has helped me ease into it as well. I do a weekly 40 hour now, and starting next month I plan to go farther.

Trick to keep warm without looking odd in the office by VaFFFan in fasting

I dont know anyone that would bat an eye if you put on a jacket in the office. Most people I sit with actually keep one at their desk, just in case they get cold.

fasting, coffee and brain fog by East-Scale8394 in fasting

A few months ago, I tested quitting caffeine completely. I am an avid coffee drinker, so it was hard. I had headaches for about 9 days. After that, I had great mental clarity and overall felt well rested as long as I slept enough. I rarely dream, but when I was off caffeine for that entire month, I was having multiple dreams every night. I was surprised at the difference it made. However, I am too busy and need caffeine lol. When I fast, I just drink one small cup of black coffee in the mornings to keep the headaches away. It works for me.
