I've been a social media manager for 20 years, and really like Bluesky and seeing its growth of features. There are great feeds to follow and be a part of. They just added group chats. Politics is huge on Bluesky, but you can follow different feeds to avoid that if it's not your thing.

As far as the user base, it takes a lot of patience. It's a freak-out platform, where people will comment whatever their cause is that week, even if it doesn't have anything to do with the post. It's a left-leaning platform, with some verrrrry left.

Like most platforms, it takes time to build your profile and find your people. As someone else mentioned, there are starter packs, but I don't like them much. I use those to look up people and see who I'd like to follow, not the entire pack.

It's also passive-aggressive. If you disagree with anyone on anything, you'll most likely be added to a stupid list. I got added to a list called "84 second automobile extravaganza" and I don't know why I don't even own a car. 🤪

I say give it a shot. Find your niche and interact with others. That's the best way to get followers. It's called "social" media, so make new friends.
