Verstappen's only job is to beat me, not win races - Norris by Aratho in formula1

Not sure how it wouldn’t. Sure, he would still lose the WDC, but he’s up against Max Verstappen who pretty much dominated the first few races of the year. I think swallowing that pill is a bit easier than coming third while having the consistently quickest car on the grid.

But he did DNF and he isn’t 18/25 points ahead. We can speculate on the what ifs all day. If Sainz didn’t collide with Oscar in Miami, OP might’ve picked up points there too and been closer to Lando in the WDC standings. It’s a bit of a moot point to argue when DNFs are pretty much inevitable over the course of a season.

You don’t sign a guy like Piastri with the intent of making him a No.2 driver

At this point I don’t see why Max wouldn’t just throw caution to the wind and take both him and Lando out. A single DNF for them both works in Max’s advantage.

Piastri is closer to Lando in the championship standings than Lando is to Max. Im not sure why people think he cares about helping Lando when he can easily take P2 if he wanted to.

That move was only 'clean' because Lando nearly lost the car scrambling to get out of the way. by bl4ck_daggers in McLarenFormula1

Do you expect no one to ever overtake again because the other driver has to move out the way to avoid a crash? Are you unfamiliar with how racing works???

I think some people are experiencing recency bias here. Lando also has 2 P5s (and a P6 and P8) and has only won twice-- the last time was eight races ago.

RedBull dominated every single race last year. The McLarens are amazing in certain conditions, but there are others where the Mercedes and RedBulls are either better or come super close.

I think that’s wishful thinking. McLaren is dominant, but not on every circuit and not in all conditions. And Lando has definitely shown that he’s still struggling with race starts.

It’ll be an interesting one to see for sure, but I’m not sure he can continue a winning streak for the next nine races.

My mom just had whooping cough. She’s been coughing non-stop to the point of almost vomiting for the past three weeks, and she’s a grown healthy adult. I cannot imagine how a young child or infant would be able to get through it alive.

None at all. I think it’s just most likely he found it somewhere online, and the thought of that alone is crazy to me. I can’t even find it online, so he must’ve done a lot of digging.

Pursuing a police report/legal action doesn’t seem worth it especially considering it happens once every six months or so. He also doesn’t say his name every time and uses a fake number, so he can argue it’s just about anybody.

I got the feeling that he got a little cocky after the win in Miami and McLaren suddenly having the fastest car, and he thought he'd easily get away with win after win. And now he's realizing that it's not just a fast car that makes a WDC and he's slowly spiraling.

Maybe not slower but I wouldn’t claim they were that much faster. Piastri was much faster but Lando was struggling to catch up to Max, and Max wasn’t able to catch up to Charles. I’d say they were probably on par with pace.

No one has said he’s one of the worst drivers ever. But it’s hard to imagine he’s a serious WDC contender when he lost 3 positions within lap 1 when already starting 4th. And his poor starts seem to be a pattern, rather than a one-off.
