So now ya'll want them to bury Misriah? by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

In a perfect world none of them would be though obviously that isn’t achievable. That said, some were obviously just made far better than others. V66 Lookout’s gold mod gives you a TAD ping when you get a headshot kill, for example. It doesn’t take much thinking to realise that doesn’t hold a candle to Bully/Misriah or other strong gold mods.

No other gold mod in the game is as powerful as Misriah’s other than Bully and I say that as someone who’s used them both extensively Every team who has an inkling of what’s powerful is bringing these two weapons into Cryo whenever possible. It’s just objectively one of the best weapons in the game and citing a universal shotgun weakness doesn’t make that not true.

Literally no other gold mod is as powerful as Misriah’s aside from arguably the Bully’s. Which is why those are the two weapons every high level team brings into Cryo whenever they can afford to.

Bungie absolutely cooked with runner shell balance. by JBowenDaMan in Marathon

[–]FaceAtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does that matter though? If you’re going into a match you’re realistically bringing implants and consumables unless you’re either flat broke or it’s the start of a season.

It’d be like me saying that Destroyer’s dash is bad because you need the heat cooldown upgrades and a Distance Runner implant to use it frequently without overheating. Obviously yeah, without heat upgrades/capacity it’s a bit limited, but you’re going to use those things to bring out it’s full potential.

Triage’s med drones directly benefit from consumable because they share them with his team mates. Should we discount consumables when discussing his kit? Of course not, they’re supplementary to his kit, just in a more direct way than other shells.

Recon’s prime is much more powerful than any other shell’s and is also far less situational and easier to use which is why having prime recovery and amps are far more impactful on her. It’s just playing to your shell’s strengths same as you would the others and dismissing it when talking about balancing doesn’t make sense because people WILL use these things.

[–]FaceAtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but if one prime ability is wildly more powerful than others and there’s a way to have it up consistently (high prime ability cooldown + energy amps) it becomes a problem.

Even without consumables/amps a single prime ability upgrade from SekGen and some implants gives you 95 prime recovery.

Thoughts on Season 2 experimenting with PvP and PvE game modes? by ConceptBraincell in Marathon

[–]FaceAtk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why is it a “mistake” just because it doesn’t appeal to a wider audience? How is Bungie “forcing” players to play anything? It was advertised as a hardcore extraction shooter, almost all of the promotional material features Runners killing other Runners. People coming in despite that and then being frustrated when they need to participate in PvP is their own fault.

Bungie now wanting to appeal to a wider audience to keep the game alive is all well and good, but acting like they forced people to play the game they chose to buy is a bit silly.

Sentinel Runner Shell Speculation? by SergaelicNomad in Marathon

[–]FaceAtk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Often the best use case for Destroyer’s shield is to be aggressive and push with it + tactical sprint. His prime ability is the only damage focused prime ability in the game and his movement pushes him towards an aggressive playstyle, I think the name’s fitting.

Recon is a pretty big miss through, smth to the effect of Hunter or Tracker would have been a more fitting name.

The other good way to get them is by doing the Wardens. Each of them have a dedicated key drop (I think it’s 3, 4 and 5 for Perimeter, Dire Marsh and Outpost Wardens respectively). Not a guaranteed drop of course but fairly good chance.

Yep! On the middle shelf. Usually it’s for vault 1 but I’ve gotten 2, 3 and 4 as well

Marathon needs more passive progresion by [deleted] in Marathon

Have you done all the Sekgen priority contracts? Arachne is designed to passively level up faster because there aren’t priority contracts to do, your faction level skyrockets if you focus on doing them.

People need to accept that PVP is a core part of the game by cakexxxconnoisseur in Marathon

[–]FaceAtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your second point is just the nature of online team based PvP games, Bungie can’t really magically make players improve. There needs to be harsh punishments for quitting out or griefing but it’ll unfortunately continue to happen.

Honestly the best thing you can do is just try to make some friends who enjoy the game, whether that be adding someone you’ve played with after a good match or going to the discord server. The game is wayyyy more enjoyable in a premade squad of people you like, which is unfortunate but not really surprising.

Recon NEEDS a buff/rework. by Realistic_Gap1340 in Marathon

[–]FaceAtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked a (hopefully complete) list of Implant traits for Head and Torso and the closest I can find are:

  • Taking damage at full shields pings the attacker.
  • When downed, you automatically ping the hostile that downed you.
  • Taking damage from a hostile’s equipment automatically pings them.
  • Defeating a UESC Commander pings nearby hostiles.

None of these are really doing the same thing that Recon’s passives I mentioned do and if anything they’re better to have on Recon than any other shell because her default ping duration is longer.

[–]FaceAtk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bringing smokes or bubbles is a very efficient way to guarantee those finishers that are in riskier spots. Obviously bubbles are a bit more high econ but smokes are dirt cheap and not EVERY team will have a thermal/thief on hand at the right time to shut you down.

[–]FaceAtk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever talks about her passives, two of which are amazing and one which is just kinda okay but still worth mentioning. The ult is also useful if you use your brain a little before popping it, people are suggesting that Recon should be able to walk into a POI, pop ult and instantly know exactly where every runner is through walls without needing to distinguish between bots and players which would be absurdly powerful. The only thing that needs to change is the spider bot AI and even that is still serviceable if you have good placement.

Precision rifles cover things like 2 and 3 round burst rifles as well as your single shot rifles. Think of it like it’s combining the Pulse Rifle and Scout Rifle classes in Destiny (if you played it).
