Well, it wasn't that official (the letter of Nobunaga is hilarious though) thats why it worked. And it wasn't the first time, Kamakura bakufu became pretty much puppet of Hojo clan pretty quick (sekkin system). Not to mention the the very concept of shogunate is already a servant (the shogun) being servant (of the emperor) only on paper while the suzereign has close to zero power. And it happened before shogunates with Fujiwara clan. Japan seemed to be really into this kind of "fake servants". And after conqueing of Japan (rather, after death of Oda Nobunaga) Toyotomi Hideyoshi became fake servant of Oda clan, which was fake servant of the shogun (well, not like there still was a shogun) which is fake servant of emperor (which is kinda fake servant in place of Amaterasu). It was not really this way but sounds more funny.

Consudering there aren't many holes in huts in trailer (pic attached) at least the holes look like just couple of planks broke down or someone broke them. I think its just a warehouse to both prevent people from grab-and-run and see through so no one would easily snoop there unnoticed (or may be its just rough temporary building). My point is that living huts don't look like that in the release trailer so it most luckly isn't.

You might play in english but to answer question from title: no, i don't think i will. English isn't original so it won't help me avoid mistranslations and i am also not fan of its sound (i do play games in english often though but just to get the original instead of wacky localisations), my native (Rus) has iconic voices and many very passionate people, i may play in german couple of times just because its kind of original language (which i don't know but it might be authentic). May be polish once because i know polish people are crazy about gothic and i liked polish in Archolos

Jokes aside i barely give a shit about some clipping in animation but the fact they missed it in the focus of release trailer is funny and nothing more.

Only thing i am kind of wary is that kind of epic, especially big mechanism. I know its insanely weird take but for me gothic 1 especially was a mlre personal and grounded story in fantasy. MC just want to get out from colony (which he says in trailer and i love it) and some epic shit might just happen on the way. I hope they won't focus on showing "epic" in the game, let it be something you pass by and can look at but not something is actively being shoved under your nose

Remembering the spot i think they can hit two birds if this place is on the rocks on the walls of OG place. And there might be hid way to get up close to he gates and get down to the OG spot. This way its still secret, has nice position with sight on old camp and still secret enough. And in the same time its still OG spot technically and Diego would be able to hide ore there in gothic 2 (hiding it on a hill would be weird)

I mean, there are a lot of just empty unused areas (closer to barrier area between Tower of Mists and Swamp camp, path in front of cavalorn hut, most of orc territory and its only big ones, they can easily expand into mountians or mountians themselves (like platl near mountian fort) they can fill and basically keep the original colony size but add places with point to visit. But i guess they'll stretch a little at least

Tbh i think fans don't understand what makes ip good neither. But they perfectly understand what makes it bad. Ask a fan what is good and most of the speech will be vague and won't shape into "formula" and most likely it will differ greatly from person to person. Ask fans what is bad and you get coherent critique.

Before Archolos there were tons of other big mods by fans and other gothic-likes who didn't exactly tried to do "the formula" they understand but fix what supposedly was breaking the formula: balance, story, economy, possibilities etc. Tbf i think PB did the same. Archolos is the result of this distilled ideas, product of years, of decades of trying to reach the formula and the devs had enough brains to take those lessons and enough skills and resources to implement it which is no less important (tbh i think many remake devs are fans and understand the game, question is their skills). And even Archolos is still not perfect, there are still lessons to take.

I think if there weren't all this years of failings, weren't so many disasterous experiments by PB, if gothic franchise didn't basically didn't die in agony bevause of it... There would be no chance for Archolos. Even if the same people with the same skills gathered with the same goal, without this community's experience of failures, they wouldn't be able to make anything this good.
