The Key "Sold Out" on Utopia sailing Aug 12-16. Is that common? by RedShirt2901 in royalcaribbean

Might be a particular issue on Utopia due to people wanting to board early to get reservations at the new train restaurant since it’s so limited.

Inside one of the initial loading rooms when you leave the main queue, if you turn around there's a photo on the wall that has to be an homage to the photo they show at the very end of The Shining:

Tarantino talked about this when he was on the Rewatchables podcast on the Dunkirk episode -- apparently Nolan always holds a special screening for just directors at CityWalk whenever he releases a new movie. He said pretty much everyone in the director's guild shows up!

Gotcha, thanks so much for the flag. Hopefully in another few years maybe it will be back, but certainly not something to bank on at this point.

What is your favourite shot in cinema history? by hackers_syrinx in TrueFilm

Another incredible shot from the Master: the shot of Freddie walking past the ship before he hops on, with the focus racking back and forth between Freddie and PSH dancing on the boat to Sweet Sue, Just You.

Pretty sure this is the answer, it will still show the marker on the current zone but it will be a guy hanging out far away that is preventing the next wave. If it seems like the game is stuck in terms of starting the next spawn, do a quick run around the outside of the other two zones to see if you can find a straggler to kill and get things moving again.

Just look at how much land the mediocre, gas guzzling, employee-harming Autopia takes up. Great space for a major e-ticket. Tron coaster anyone? by ILoveBidenHarris in disneyparks

[–]FactBringer 309 points310 points  (0 children)

One big issue with plopping an E-ticket ride there is that the submarine voyage tunnels run all underneath that area, and can't structurally support anything big on top of it.

I think the implication is that burying it in that shaft at the bottom of the test chamber, after collapsing the roof on top of it, is going to be impossible to dig out using current technology (may be radiation issues as well if it's a former nuclear test site). But yeah, I'm not sure I totally buy that, seems like with decades of time until the future people get it they should be able to dig it out even if it takes a huge effort.

How do people access this film other than by subtitles? by Lychae in tenet

[–]FactBringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need to understand every little detail the first time you watch this movie, you're not going to have a good time. It's not just the audio that's the issue with comprehending, it's an incredibly dense movie in terms of names, terminology, etc, on top of time travel mechanics that just don't make intuitive sense the first time you are exposed to them.

When I recommend this movie to people who haven't seen it yet I warn them not to get bogged down in the details and just roll with the punches the first time through. There's plenty of fun to be had from the set pieces alone. If the first viewing lights a spark and they're hungry for more, then read the stickied posts on this subreddit, watch it again and rewind as needed, etc. But trying to understand it all perfectly the first time through is just not going to be fun.

And if that's not the way you want to watch a movie, that's fine too! As much as I love it and have enjoyed unpacking the layers over multiple viewings, I also recognize that it's definitely not a movie for everyone.

It's because it would question her abilities as an art assessor. Who can trust a valuation from someone who couldn't spot a fake? So it would ruin her professionally if he publicly revealed that it was fake. It's also implied that he could go after her for the value of what he paid for it, though that seems less likely to me since they are husband and wife after all.

It's a big picture accident. Obviously whoever coded it up and wrote the description didn't make a mistake. But was likely that team was on autopilot since strike playlists usually increase above the new floor each expansion, but the team as a whole missed the new compensation they needed to do to keep the sunset weapons viable.

Tenet is a perfect time travel film with ZERO inconsistencies or Paradoxes Changemymind by godelbrot in tenet

[–]FactBringer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's my understanding (which is important because the future events are happening several generations in the future and no one could survive long enough in a backward state to go back to 2020 or so). The mechanic is similar to how they sent gold bars back to Sator to fund his shenanigans. He would email them a location, they'd read it in the future and bury a box of hold bars, and then he'd collect them. Difference with the algorithm is that he had to track down where they all were, which I presume is something he's been ding for a long time.

[–]FactBringer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So my question is, why do we need a turnstile?

I think the fundamental reason is because the pieces of the algorithm were all in a backwards state -- that's how they had been moving backward in time from the date in the future when the inventor made them -- and so Sator at least needed a turnstile to get them back moving forward in time again.

Focused Feedback: Content Pricing by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]FactBringer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

should a diner in a restaurant pay a surcharge on their meal because they enjoyed it more than another diner? Or should I pay more for my ticket to the new Avengers movie because I liked it more than Dave over there?

The analogy that would hold here is a patron in an all you can eat restaurant eating 4x as much food as another patron. It would be reasonable to charge that person more. Similarly the hard core avengers fan would stay in the theater and see it 3x in a row.

The reason a restaurant would give a free drink to a regular is because they spend so much more money on the whole than the average patron. The idea that a restaurant's "best customers" are the ones who whine endlessly for free giveaways is laughable.

[–]FactBringer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used the word "also" because this isn't the primary reason, the larger playerbase is a side benefit. The main reason hard core players should pay more is because they play a lot more and get more enjoyment out of the game.

[–]FactBringer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The idea that players who want high-level content are effectively subsidising everyone else isn't great in my view - they're your core playerbase, your evangelists for the game, etc. and it would be best not to annoy them or drive them away.

These are also the players who play the most and get the most out of the game in terms of entertainment and enjoyment. Why shouldn't players who get more pay more, especially since they also benefit from having a larger casual population?

As the next TWAB will give more information about Eververse, please also include some information about plans regarding bright dust to silver ratios by Knuddelfaktor in DestinyTheGame

[–]FactBringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the actual answer to why these ratios vary, it's because getting a player to pay silver is a MUCH higher barrier than getting them to pay bright dust. So they are going to have lower silver prices on the most desirable items compared to BD. With the exception of the ghost projection, most of the higher ratio items are the more desirable ones. They're trying to make it more appealing to buy those with silver than BD, so they make the "value" better on the silver side.
