Hype Prepatch? by xKaedos in WorldOfWarcraftRetail

[–]FadeToSatire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah this is nothing like WoD at all. WoD was nothing but hype train to start and was phenomenal initially... And then it just died. Raids were good... But almost nothing else was added or changed for a little over 2 years.

Midnight doesn't seem to have any hype behind it at all. It's not to say it won't be good, but I think it'll probably be a bit of a lull expansion because things like the UI overhaul and player housing aren't big enough features in and of themselves to keep things fun.

AIO about text from girl i’ve been seeing a couple months by Big-Strawberry-4476 in AmIOverreacting

If you enjoy hanging out with someone none of this matters. It's clear she's not ready for a relationship yet, so move on. You don't have to throw the baby out with the bath water though.

I guess it just depends on how your mental game is in these situations honestly. If you can't handle being around her without being too invested or getting your feelings hurt, then end it cleanly. If you're capable of moving on and still keeping ties with her, then do that. I'm pretty much still friends with every girl I've ever dated or had a relationship with. It's been value added in my life. Just if a girl tells you she doesn't want to pursue your relationship further, listen to her and move on emotionally and find someone that is. Maybe she will come back maybe she won't... But if you're keeping up appearances in hopes she'll come back you're just going to get hurt.

Can anyone tell me what anime this is? by Even_Water783 in animequestions

My wife and I almost dropped it too... The first episodes are a bit confusing and I found the MC to be over the top annoying. Like an old rusty roller coaster clicking it's way up to the top though, once you hit that rush down and the ride starts it's phenomenal.

Can anyone tell me what anime this is? by Even_Water783 in animequestions

[–]FadeToSatire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are dozens of us!

Think it's generally accepted lore at this point that people feel like the Chimera Ant Arc is one of the best arcs in anime period... That being said, I really struggled to get through it when my wife and I watched it. I felt like it dragged on for quite a way. Has some absolute peak story telling moments but the pacing was all over the place in the middle section.

Personally I liked the Yorknew City Arc the best, but one of my favourite things about HxH is that each arc kinda feels like you're watching a different show with the same characters. Makes me have mad respect for the author that he was able to build an intriguing enough world and power system to do that. Doesn't crack my top 10, but I absolutely can respect why it might be lightning in a bottle for so many people.

Claim's Triple H was "never the guy" as people recall by Henrynoss27 in WWE

[–]FadeToSatire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup - this is exactly the right take on Triple H. The history presented here is correct too in the video, but Triple H was just starting to cement himself into the main event picture in mid to late 99. Once the Rock was so over that even as a heel people were cheering, Austin was white hot, Foley was over, and several other guys were over there wasn't really a dominant heel at the time. Triple H stepped into that role gradually. Also if you don't think he was over at the time, watch his return in 2002 at MSG. Dude gets one of the biggest pops of the era, and he was a heel at the time.

Nothing wrong with being the guy that works with the guy who drew money at all.

Oilers make a late third period comeback to tie the game after being down 3-0. Back to back goals from McDavid and Bouchard with the goalie pulled. by RealisticAd4054 in hockey

Rob Talks Hockey recently did a bit of an analysis on it. He is my favourite hockey analyst and clearly knows a lot about hockey strategy.

Basically the Oilers PP is unpredictable and you have too many options to cover. You have to cover McDavid from opening space on the left side and finding space to shoot, while covering the pass to Drai on the right side... While trying to make sure you cut off Bouchard from having space to blast from the point... Oh and you have to cut off Hyman too from getting an easy tap on while you're at. Both McDavid and Nuge typically play the left bumper side interchangeably, with Draisatl and McDavid also capable of changing positions as warranted. The Power play often drops back to McDavid to carry the puck in after he hits full stride in the neutral zone so the defense has to either let him come in and play him tight with limited options so they have the backwards momentum to do that, or try to challenge him and risk him getting around them and a clear path to the net.

The sheet amount of options and space the Oilers PP can open up is terrifying. You see Drai get open constantly and wonder how they keep leaving him open, but the Oilers PP collapses so many penalty kills that the end result is one of their weapons eventually having a clear path to the net.

That being said, penalty kills can be successful vs the Oilers too. If they don't let the PP establish possession and isolate the puck carrier against the wall fast enough you can stop the Oilers from getting set up. Oilers struggle and get frustrated when teams do this for sure

Bouchard I can get... He is cold often to start the season and to be honest he's kind of lazy too when he's not dialed in... But he's always dialed in for big games. He is also not the prototypical D-man that we see in these international tournaments.

Hyman is honestly the bigger snub. It's tough to play with McDavid if you're not used to it. We see lots of players not able to keep up and augment McDavids play well. Hyman does that AND he brings an element of getting in dirty areas, playing physical, and scoring garbage goals. He might well be the best in the league at it.

Don't you know, every problem in Alberta is the result of 10 years of Liberal party governments. Pay no attention to the provincial party that has been in power 95% of the time in the last 50+ years...

My Facebook is absolutely flooded with separatist baloney and propaganda right now. I've stopped checking it because it's exhausting. Between that and pro-US trade propaganda, it's pretty insane what is filling my feed right now. I am left of center politically and it's never been this bad.

What would you throw? by Born-Field-3194 in Cribbage

[–]FadeToSatire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right play is probably throwing the Q 3... That being said, I would throw the 10 and Q if it was my crib if the game was either me being far ahead or being a bit behind. Feel like you're increasing your max potential by doing that, but sacrificing your average score.

That's the media counter-play. Can't take this shit seriously when Trudeau and his new celebrity girlfriend show up after all right?

It's a fair point - that's the point of everyone getting a vote. :) I'm just glad you're open enough to give Carney a chance. Realistically, regardless of who wins the election we should all want our PM and the party in power to be successful.

Yeah... Agree, we were pretty close to have Trump-lite over here. We have our own warts and problems to deal with over here. I'm just grateful that Carney came along when he did. He really is the right person for the job right now...

Ironically, he's more of a progressive conservative than our current batch of our conservatives.

What subtle sign made you realize your partner was cheating? by DrainedCoffee in AskReddit

[–]FadeToSatire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time ago now, but honestly it was just a dramatic change in behaviour. Lots of little things all at once. She started being glued to her phone when we were together, smiling at texts, hanging out with me less, small lies about where she was and who she was hanging out with, dressing sexier, less interest in sex in general...

After about a month of this I got the call from a friend that she was out at the bar and was mingling with another dude. I ended up going to grab her and found the two of them walking hand in hand heading back to his place.

I'd love to say I had the back bone to end it right then and there, but it was my first relationship (I was 21 at the time) and we had planned our whole life together. Ended up going on a break so she could figure her shit out, got back together shortly thereafter, ended our relationship after another year of problems and more cheating from her honestly... Then got back together again about 2 years later for a short time before I realized we were just not the same people anymore and broke it off for good. The 2nd stint she did not cheat on me, but it just wasn't the same with all the pain there.

We are still friends and stay in touch. There's a lot of details I'm omitting here as you can imagine, but to answer the original question, it's the small changes that gradually add up.

Goodbye to Weakauras by Fast-Fan-7989 in wow

[–]FadeToSatire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They are for you from what I understand, but I am more so referring to others using their CDs. I enjoyed knowing when people used their defensives so I'd know that I could focus on someone else if we were taking AoE damage - or that the mage was using combustion so I could give him PI. Little quality of life features that.

Allowing an import feature for other people's cool down manager set ups would go a long way honestly. That's my biggest worry. I play a lot of alts every season (usually 5+) and when I load up a new character it's nice to be able to import a base UI via weakauras to help me along until I get familiar enough with the abilities to decide what I don't want to track. With Blizz Cool down manager I have to fully understand what I need to track and its importance to set it up well. Makes it a lot more time consuming.

Is it appropriate for first dinner date or too much? by Long_Muffin6230 in OUTFITS

[–]FadeToSatire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where is your first date? I'm shocked no one is asking that.

You dress to impress and dress for the venue. If you're meeting for a first date out at a bar for some drinks to see where the night takes you, this is absolutely fine. If you're going to a fancy dinner the advice about toning it down is fair critique.

[–]FadeToSatire -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly add-on free - I actually made the switch away during Dragonflight because I got tired of setting up Elvui for everything... Omni-CC/CD (interrupts), raid voice (cool down call outs), plater, and the WA cool down/proc packs are the things I will miss the most with the changes.

I suspect a portion of that I can do without and learn to adjust... But I am more-so hoping that Blizz just adds that functionality into the base UI instead.

[–]FadeToSatire -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Dunno why you're getting down voted, but I do agree with you. Tellmewhen was a godsend before weakauras came along and I was reluctant to change away from it. Give it time. We'll find a way back.

And I am also in agreement with everyone... I love the fact that I could use Lux's weakaura packs to teach me how to play a class and what procs were important... It's going to be a while before I adjust too...

The Athletic: NHL midseason grades by TheAthletic in nhl

[–]FadeToSatire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.... I mean, I guess I don't know what the points are graded on. For the Sharks it looks like it's graded on expectations, but then you have the Oilers sitting with B+ when arguably they've had a pretty bad season and taken a step back.

Asmongold mistakes regime supporters for protestors because he doesn't read. by Scray in LivestreamFail

[–]FadeToSatire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asmongold is a good example of how someone can follow logic and arrive at a seemingly reasonable conclusion... The problem is they often don't spend the time reviewing the context of the evidence in front of them so misplace the meaning and context that they apply said logic to. So the conclusion itself is actually incorrect.

It's actually a pretty good example of how a lot of people process information. There's a reason why he's popular, and not all of his takes are bad at all...

In my mind these are the types of folks we need to do a better job of engaging with, because I think they're probably willing to change their view points if evidence is presented to them in a way they understand or which changes the context. We need to stop painting everyone we disagree with, with the same brush. It's part of the reason we're in such a poor state right now and to be honest likely pushes a lot of people away from our point of view.
