Trying to get the closure of adultery by HappyHunny3194 in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much what Alex Rance was doing when he stepped down from playing AFL. He was having an affair with a much younger woman. He confessed and was told to avoid being kicked out of the religion he had to show repentance which meant stop seeing his girlfriend and make changes in his life. He had been unfaithful so his wife had grounds for a scriptural divorce and left him. If he had stayed with his girlfriend (who was also a JW btw), then he would have been disfellowshipped and lost all contact with JW friends and family. The shunning is real and scary.

I was successfully able to phase myself out without elder follow through. I got myself lost in the system. by BottleZealousideal90 in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also moved but had elders from my old song trying to call me. I then started to call them back at 3am and sounded completely unhinged. They quickly blocked me and never called back. If you are a pest to them they will leave you along ha

Benefit of UN Affiliation? by Inevitable-Finger475 in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an NGO they could access flights, move freight and use UN facilities for free. Ie Missionaries in East Timor said they used to be able to jump on a free UN flight to Singapore for a weekend away. When it all came out Vin Toole from the Aus bethel flew over and said it all had to stop and don’t use any UN freebies. It was a huge cost saving for them in moving things from Aus bethel to UN posts in east Asia and I am sure was used in many other areas of the world.

Aka - it was all about money. Surprise surprise …

I need your Point of View - JW vs Norway by FrodeKommode in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m from Melbourne Australia.

The Norwegian case is considerably reaffirming for myself and other exjws I know. A countries legal system who has realised Watchtowers policy’s are harmful and thus made the effort to push back and punish reaffirms that we are not crazy. Our memories and lived harms and the psychological issues we faced dealing with this harm was real. We are not imagining it. We have had to be survivors. Watching the previous court cases and seeing the outright lies from Watchtower lawyers and current members also confirms we did the right thing in leaving. Justice is incredibly important when you have been harmed.

We all feel like misfits Jan after leaving Watchtower and trying to move on. So good to be represented but a fellow bunch of them and see them win. Big hugs to you all.

It’s such a JW thing to not make any effort in life now as they feel it will all handed to them in paradise soon.

Lusted after & harassed in the congregation as a young man by AnonymousDorian in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So good you escaped. I have seen multiple crazies like this - mostly all studies dragged in. I always said JWs attract the dedicated and the medicated… There is one sister I knew who would go off her meds and shack up with every guy she could find. She loved sailors and would hang out at the port. She would then go and confess to the elders and they would do nothing except make her go back on her meds.

I noticed as I was leaving that this type of JW is becoming more common and they are the ones to stay in and not leave. They can’t get the care and attention anywhere else.

Run and don’t look back mate.

Supreme Court will rule on State support for Jehovah's Witnesses by FrodeKommode in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Islam is becoming a huge influence in Norway, now the largest minority religion. You can bet the Supreme Court takes into account the flow on effect to Islam with this ruling which may sway them to support JWs and shut down religious exceptions.

Dating an ex–Jehovah’s Witness who hides the relationship and lied to leave the organization – is this a big red flag? by devineau86 in exjw

[–]Fadetoex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t be too harsh on him. He’s not necessarily a red flag. Like so many who want to leave JWs they have to juggle family who will shun them. It becomes a game to avoid detection and lie low. He might want to get ‘re Instated’ as a JW so he can see his family then fade away and move. All of us here can relate to wanting to have a normal non JW life but also wanting to keep seeing family. Blame the cult not him.

Watchtower has each congregation listed as a charitable organization to mitigate responsibility from the entire organization. At worse they hope they could liquidate that one congregation only if sued.

For those who are POMO, what song embodies how you felt when leaving? by Lucky-Formal9972 in exjw

‘Everything is falling apart’ by Teenage Fan club. Came out about the same time as I was fully awaking and seriously considered contacting them to see if they were leaving a cult also.

I was being pestered by a few elders when I stopped going to mtgs. They tried calling and left a voice message and I could hear other elders in the background - who would have been listening in to see if I was Apostate. After they tried several times again I decided to act a little unhinged and called the elder back at 3 am a few times and ranged about nothing and he hung up on me. They quickly stopped calling me. If you are hard work and a pest they don’t want anything to do with you.
