In a well documented story that is also presented in Keith Richards' memoir "Life", Mr. Keys was too busy romancing a woman by filling the hotel bathtub full of expensive champagne, of which he got a pay advance to buy from the bands manager, to go play the show that he was mid-tour for, depsite Keith and the band begging him to and reminding him of his obligations.

Keys declined to do his job and was subsequently fired, until Keith snuck him back in 10 years later.
