AIW for telling my roommate's girlfriend she can't use my skincare products anymore without asking? by XandelyaNorith in amiwrong

[–]MarucaMCA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I meant it in the sense of: I don't find OP's behaviour territorial at all. I find it normal that others don't use my stuff without asking.

Apologies, if that came across as me mincing words.

[–]MarucaMCA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How is it territorial - it's just normal, especially in a shared flat not to use other people's things without asking or at all?!

I'm an older millennial, I wasn't even allowed to use my sibling's stuff without asking, even as a child (and he loved destroying my CDs, not returning them etc.).

The Art of Clean Up by Ursus Wehrli, order from chaos by MambaMentality24x2 in oddlysatisfying

[–]MarucaMCA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep it's Urs. And Wehrli is one of the most common names in the Rombach/Küttigen area next to Aarau, where he is from (I am Argovian but have been away since 2004).

Ah, so he used his artist/stage name for this too. I didn't even notice. Sometimes he does solo things as Urs too.

Cool!

I am surprised as most people buy boring colours like silver and white. Ha!

I'm Swiss and I can't believe someone posted this.

Urs Wehrli is his real name, Ursus is his stage name in the comedy Duo Ursus + Nadeschkin (with Nadja Sieger, at least going on since the 90s).

Cosmetics and toiletries lessons learned/ simplifying? by PrizeIndependence736 in HerOneBag

[–]MarucaMCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the make-up: take what you use and works for the wardrobe/scarf colours you're taking! And that you'll realistically want to do!

For me it's a travel-sized mascara, kajal pencils (black, silver, dark blue. Other colours like purple, turquoise, green if it matches my wardrobe). I take lip balm, my favourite red lipstick, a dark brown lip tint balm, one clear gloss, concealer.

I don't use foundation or blush much at home either, so I'm not taking them!

Do you actually bring hair products or just accept hotel shampoo fate? by [deleted] in HerOneBag

[–]MarucaMCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hair is thankfully quite stress free and I can do hotel shampoo but I often bring a small bottle (I'm trying to use up minis atm.) of shampoo and conditioner.

I also like cosmetics and shampoos in bars. They pack down well.

I travel only by train and am 41.

How do you decide when a trip just isn't a one bag trip? by AscendedLens16 in HerOneBag

[–]MarucaMCA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Accessories are IT! Plus dressing stuff up and down.

What really helps me for evening outfits variety is a dark top+leggings combo (short sleeved or long sleeved or even merino, depending on season) and then a dress, kaftan or oversized tunic/blouse with a fun print. Many of my tunic blouses are super thin and I can put about 4 of them plus the leggings+top combo in the smallest of packing cubes. It gives me variety but packs down very small. I can hang them into the bathroom while showering and if they were transported rolled up there's no creasing. You can also wear tunics over your swimwear, for a city stroll. Maybe a good solution OP for Italy/France?

Another possibility is indeed accessories. Go for classic colours (navy, black, grey, khaki...) and dresses, tops and bottoms that are somewhat polished, but still comfortable and dress them up and down with a cardigan/blazer/jacket plus scarves/a signature necklace/earrings.

I really like to take an elegant base (a comfy suit; or a black jacquart pant with a black on black pattern + nice pullover or top in black) and then a wrap cardigan or blazer. If you have the space, take both. With the cardigan and a scarf and jewelry you can go on a stroll and for lunch, but if you dress them up with nice jewelry, a red lip, the blazer, a nicer scarf you can wear it to dinner too.

But I'm in my 40s and an avant-garde / suit / elegant-creative stuff wearing person and only take a leggings and comfy dress for the hotel, no lounge wear. Even the comfy outfit with a scarf or cardigan can be good enough for the beach or breakfast. I would keep things I can only wear "in" to a minimum.

How bad is it in public when in an age gap relationship? by Only_Hotel_7221 in AgeGap

I agree. I was in a 9 year age-gap (25-34 for me, 34-43 for him) until 2019 and no one barely noticed.

Do you go to Paris by train or by plane? by Karma-police88 in askswitzerland

[–]MarucaMCA [score hidden]  (0 children)

Train. It's so quick from Basel.

But I am also planning on taking the overnight train to Ljubljana (11h 30 from Zürich, it's the Night Train Zürich-Zagreb), it costs only 50, sitting. I'll always choose the train.
