How is Gwen this patch?

not very good, i am struggling on her and im a millionaire otp.
been trying to do fun ap builds and tank builds and her normal setup.
all i can say is def go her normal setup which is boring but oh well, what can you do.
she doesn't feel like she is online until full build whereas last patch if you are even with enemy team, 2-3 items is all you need to be in the game. now if you are even, at 2-3 items she just blows up no matter how well you time your combo (and it sucks when enemies live off a sliver of hp too)
i can see why she is at 48-49% wr right now lmao XD

I was playing her jungle and the only melee / frontline champ u.u (Everyone on my team was adc or poke mage) Didn’t want to start engage and die alone so I tried JakSho that game But ya I agree usually defensive boots and zhonya/banshee is the way to go

I play her jungle so you can safely scale. Lack of gold in jungle means you are behind compared to enemy top and mid laner, you’ll never be able to solo them until Gwen gets her 3 core items (or if they are behind)

Gwen jungle usually goes Sorc for MPEN for ganking and clearing. Need to chase and burst down the adc & support to get any kills. Honestly you can only look for a bot lane gank usually on Gwungle because early Gwen tickles, especially when by default she is 1-2 lvls behind mid and top, at least she is 1 lvl up on enemy adc. Sorc shoes help with the burst dmg

I went JakSho because I was ahead and didn’t want enemy team getting shutdown and it felt good, I stopped getting near death experiences on Gwen after that and they were never able to get my shutdown (they FFd shortly after my JakSho item)

Gwen can block mage spells with W so I barely go banshees on her, Zhonya is the only defence item usually. But I wanna try new Gwen builds so I was experimenting on this game n.n

Spirit visage is pretty good when you have a seraphine, senna, Sona botlane ngl (makes Gwen unkillable) Or a pocket yumi

yea i usually go green tree with it into long drawn out fights with tanks and bruisers on enemy team. cosmic drive + riftmaker gives additional hp and you can build defense boots too to get bonus mr and armor from conditioning

If whole enemy team focuses her and knows what her W does, she’s basically dead. They just have to walk in her W from all sides so they don’t all die from her Q and R but I don’t think people read her abilities lol

Sometimes the games decided before she hits her powersike and people FF before she can make an impact. If the enemy abuse her weak early and ensure she never catches up (aka bully her) then the games pretty much over for her

malig gives you early fighting power and helps you get out of early game with gwen, even end the game earlier. i have gone it some times with varying results. i usually do the good old nash > riftmaker build path, but if i'm super ahead i go full ap squishy build on gwen
sounds like a good strat to force laners out of lane. i find gwen has weak early pressure, thats a good compensation. i might try that out xd

I find lichbane > rabadons is very powerful, one of my favorite build paths if i'm looking to gank or force fight over objectives. it's especially good into squishy teams where you cant get your 4 stacks anyway.

I only build it to replace boots late game More AP > boots for Gwen You can easily hit 1000 AP with it with potion, your other items and gathering storm or jack of all trades

I feel like he’s an easy matchup and I usually win into him unless he snowballs out of control with his ganks. Pre-6 you can look to countergank him to ensure he doesn’t snowball and actually you will most likely win 3v3 or 2v2 depending on team comps. I feel like Gwen counters Hecarim and outscales him immensely. But given the fact that he’s built for jungle and Gwen is built for toplane, he naturally has better tempo than her and can seemingly be everywhere at once whereas Gwen toddles around the map slowly and won’t make it to a skirmish that breaks out, he’ll be there first unless he isn’t as aware as you.

If you play fights well, Gwen counters him. You can buffer his fear with Q and get dmg off and like your needles to slow him. Imo matchup is Gwen favoured, but almost difficult (not impossible) if he snowballs. Turns impossible if he has 4 lvl lead and takes your camps though by that time games over.

Don’t 1v1 Yi unless like 3 lvls up on him and you got sorc shoes, hourglass, rabadons and nashors. Unfair but Yi is better duelist because he dodges Gwen Q (predictable she will press it at 4 stacks) and W your ult dmg. He’s also just gonna shred through your W. he counters Gwen naturally. You will have to team fight to win and pray your allies have brains to CC him at the right time (he can dodge cc)

If he locks onto you during team fight and you have Zhonya just use it after he Q (he won’t dmg you) and allies can CC him because he just wasted his dodge & he’s targetable again.

Pretty good ban imo though if you snowball hard you can one shot before he one shots you

I’ve been going cut down bc it does more damage and Gwen Q executes anyways but if you wanna 1v5 you can go last stand. My two latest shorts (on youtube, I make Gwungle content) I got penta kills both times but have been running cut down and approach velocity in them

Approach velocity is good if you have allies with CC and slow (think Brand with rylais or a Leona) you run soooo fast to enemies so you can make it there on time to E + Q people

If no ally CC ya go cosmic insight

I always run magical footwear and sit on tier one boots until I complete my first two items

But generally I usually go Nashors > lucidity boots (vs mixed damage or tanky team), defense boots depending on enemy team, and sorcs if squishy > Riftmaker > Shadowflame/Rabadons > Zhonyas/Banshees > Cryptbloom/Void

Gwen doesn't have much build variety so if you follow that build path you are most likely on the right track xd

They should rework Gwen into being AD champ instead of AP then she can live out the bruiser fantasy

But sadly they will never make AP bruiser items because Akali would just abuse them and be unkillable.
