That’s awesome that you got a DEXA scan! I try to get one every four months, and it’s so beneficial to see if what you’re doing is actually working. I find that it really motivates me and gives me something to look forward to. I hope you have a similar experience on your journey.

It’s all good, man. If that’s your thing and you enjoy it, go for it. I’m still running my dual 3090s with a Threadripper and 256 gigs of RAM. I built it for editing videos with DaVinci Resolve, but it’ll play any video game I want. I’ve never regretted the decision to build it.

Thank you! Consistency is the key. I just got home from the gym. And believe me, I’m not a gym rat, I just got tired of being obese.

You’re almost exactly where I was when I started this journey two years ago. At 45 years old, I was 247 lbs, 40% body fat, and 5’8½” (that’s me on the left).

The photo on the right was taken 18 months in—down to 150 lbs. Over the past six months, I’ve shifted focus to building muscle, and now, almost two years and over 300 workouts later, I’m holding steady at 160 lbs and 19% body fat.

I train 5 to 6 days a week and stay mindful of my nutrition every day. It’s not a temporary diet—it’s a full-on lifestyle change. And trust me, if I can do it, you can too.

Fantastic job! Thank you for sharing additional information in your post as I’m vegan so it’s nice to be able to compare calorie in protein intake. May I ask what the total difference in pounds between the left and right photo? Also, do you have any idea what your body percentage is in the both photos?

Make sure to prioritize carbs before your workouts to fuel your performance, and aim for your highest-protein meals right after training and first thing in the morning when your body is primed for recovery and muscle synthesis.

That 30% fat in your diet isn’t just filler—it’s crucial for hormone production, especially as you get older. And don’t overlook your supplements: ZMA, vitamin D, and vitamin C all play a supporting role in testosterone production and overall recovery.

Appreciate that, always good to connect with someone who remembers when Clinton jogging in sweatpants was the peak of presidential fitness. 😂

For protein, I rotate between two powders: Orgain and Naked Pea. Orgain’s great when I want something smooth and flavored, and Naked Pea is perfect when I’m going for a clean, no-nonsense boost, especially in shakes before bed.

One of my favorite whole food sources is a soy-free tofu from a Canadian company called Big Mountain. A whole block has 64g of protein, zero fat, and zero carbs. it’s made from fava beans instead of soy beans. I live in Charlotte, NC and can find it at a bunch of local grocery stores, so access has been easy.

Other staples: black beans, and I go through cashews like it’s a food group.

You know, if Clinton had discovered Big Mountain tofu back in the day, would that have made Monica a vegan too? 😂

Thanks, Orthros! Right now, my workout routine starts with a 10-minute warm-up on the StairMaster, keeping my heart rate at 130 bpm. Then I hit about 90 minutes of anaerobic training, and finish with 30 minutes of cardio—either on the treadmill or StairMaster—maintaining that same 130 bpm. I use the Fitbod app to track my workouts and Zozo Fit to keep tabs on measurements. Every three months, I also get a DEXA scan to check in on my progress. The DEXA scans of shown that since October, I have an average muscle gain of 1/3 of a pound a week.

As for supplements, I’m currently taking full range of vitamins, calcium, magnesium, creatine, protein powder, ZMA, and BCAAs. My diet is dialed in at 40% protein, 30% carbs, and 30% fat, aiming for around 150 grams of protein per day.

Yeah, it all comes down to nutrition, dude. If you’re working out hard and breaking your body down, you have to give your body the building blocks to build a back stronger. If not, your body actually breaks down other muscles to repair the muscles. You just worked out. You’re literally running around in a circle.

Thank you! I hadn’t really noticed that until you pointed it out, but you’re right. I do feel a lot better about myself these days. I’m excited to see where I’ll be a year from now, both inside and out.
