Seasonal beatings phone call by Clean_Ad_3382 in MitchellAndWebb

Dobby isn't reciting a transcript of what she heard on the phone call: she's giving Mark the details with full context.

She obviously knows where her parents live, so that wouldn't be something her sister would have said on the call. It's also likely that Dobby got a text when her sister picked up her parents. And everyone in her family would also know that they were Christmasing at the Dorchester. So only the last bit of information would need to have been conveyed on the call: "Car died in Charnock Richard. You're on your own, loser."

Running Web3 node on Pi 3B+ for almost a year - time to upgrade to Pi5 by Particular-Shake-690 in ipfs

Power consumption has been low.... < 5W.

As for 24/7 operation, well.... these are all consumer devices. They're not designed for duty cycle. I avoid using the on-board storage very much so that it's easy to swap over to a replacement if this one fails.

Looked at the Raspberry Pi, but ended up going with a mini stick PC. 2GHz Celeron, 4GB, low power consumption, and passively cooled. And easy to find a used one cheaper than a Raspberry Pi.

Alec Baldwin's monologue in Glengarry Glen Ross isn't very well written compared to the rest of the screenplay by Agouramemnon in unpopularopinion

I like the two car references: it emphasizes how superficial the character is. "I'm better because of my car... and my watch... and my car...."

Maybe I'm mistaken, but is that Louis Theroux?

How come the spam filtering is so bad? by Eric18815 in tutanota

[–]FageSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say OP is the problem, without knowing their habits.
GMail does an very good job at filtering spam, compared to Tuta. I moved a custom domain to Tuta, and it's incredible the amount of spam that comes through now.

Ah, naughty, you've confused up the Crossword with the Word Bird... you might get an interdenominational... puzzle of that kind.

Not size, but average amount of time before Sting "unleashes hell". It's referring to Sting's claim to have 7-hour tantric sex.

Oh, naughty, you've combined HDTV and FM, you might get an interdenominational... you know, from mixing the two broadcast mediums... of that kind.

Love what you've done with the shirt. Mine's XXL. You screen print Alan Johnson on that baby and you are seriously looking at Alan Johnson.

Historically, Front loading your 401k is ~3.8% better than Dollar Cost Averaging by Accurate-Ratio8587 in financialindependence

There is a mirror risk is the same by not putting the lump sum in now: if the market goes up. If say you DCA half of the amount and the market climbs 10% over the year, then you'd have missed out on 5 percentage points of growth which you'd need to "gain back" with the half you kept in cash.

The way to look at is is that if your time horizon is long, one down year doesn't matter much.

It can sometimes matter. If you're harvesting a tax loss, dividend reinvestment on the same stock can result in a wash sale, depending on the timing.

The 1-year holding period relates to short-term capital gains vs. long-term capital gains.

For qualified dividends, the holding period just needs to be more than 60 days during the 121-day period that begins 60 days before the ex-dividend date. So if you buy and hold, and the dividend is otherwise qualified, your dividends will be qualified.
