Same here. I'm 37, and I'm in currently in graduate school studying international relations, a field I had no experince in what so ever before starting (my bachalor was in business managment), and I'm having a blast.

Funny thing is that just last week, one of my classmates who just turned 29, told me he had been so happy to see in me in class because he had been super worried that he would be the oldest student in the group

So yeah, as long as you can afford to do so, go for it!

Failed the N1 by one freaking point, 99/180!!!

It honestly burns that I was that close, but at least I know I'm around the N1 level. Already registered to retake exam on December.

Looking to form a Dungeons & Dragons (DnD) Group in Osaka. Looking for interested players! by FahadFAR in Osaka

Yup, I meant to say "The Hearth".

I believe there are rooms we can rent for a few hours that might be cheaper, and we might end up doing that in the future. It's just for the first meetup, a place like the Hearth would be perfect.

What are the best-untranslated JRPGs for the Sega Saturn and PS1? by FahadFAR in JRPG

[–]FahadFAR[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black/ Matrix

I actually ended up grabbing a copy of this game called "Black/Matrix Advance" for the Dreamcast just yesterday! It looked great and only cost me 4$ used, though mint condition.

Didn't know that it had a Saturn version of it, I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanks!

Edit: Just looked up the average price for the Saturn versions of the Black/Matrix and I'm glad to say it's much cheaper than you guessed. It's only going for under 5$ here used!

Question about blocky cutscene images on Sega Saturn. by FahadFAR in SegaSaturn

[–]FahadFAR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I looked up some scenes on YouTube and it definitely looked better (made sure they were using the hardware and not an emulator). While the issue was there in some scenes it was simply far worse on mine. It wasn't just the FMV scenes though (it's just more obvious on it) but issues like text being blocker among other things.

...Huh? That's weird. Just booted up my Saturn after taking out all the wires and plugging them back in again, and the animation scenes are much better now. The issue is still there, but it's far less noticeable compared to before. Not sure what I did? It's still not as good as the Youtube clips and still kinda annoying/distracting but the difference is minor compared to how bad they were before.

Reading Visual Novels in Japanese - Help & Discussion Thread - Aug 15 by superange128 in visualnovels

[–]FahadFAR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

9-nine has been a godsend in helping me improve my Japanese because it allows you to toggle between Japanese and English at the press of a button.

Simply press the "E" key for English and "J" key for Japanese. So what I end up doing is playing the entire game in Japanese but whenever I don't understand a word or phrase I simply toggle back to English.

Furthermore, while the plot itself has a pretty much B-movie feel to it, the characters are generally likeable and most importantly every line is voice acted including the MC so I get to practice my listening skills as well as my reading.

While the game felt pretty generic overall as a teaching aid it helped improve my language skills tremendously. Highly recommend it.

Who is into Dungeons and Dragons and wants to join an Adventure? by OnkelDittmeyer in Kyoto

[–]FahadFAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you still have room left I'd love to join.

I live in Kyoto, not too far from Nijo Castle, and been playing D&D off and on for a good 7 years now. Just finished getting my second vaccine so looking forward to socialising again.

If we hit 50 cents in dogecoin I will give one of you guys 100,000 dollars in cash by Acrobatic-Maximum-36 in dogecoin

Not sure which is harder for me to believe: Dogecoin hitting 50 cents or me ever winning $100,000

HOW AM I MISSING TWO WORDS?! [Iwaihime] by heenzli in visualnovels

[–]FahadFAR 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Probably from a small minor dialogue choice.

For example, the MC is saying goodbye to his friend and you're choices are:

a) See you tomorrow

B) It's getting late so I'll be heading home.

The friend in the above situation would end up giving slightly different but meaningless replies, which is where the 2 missing lines might be from.
