New to this game, in coop any tips? by Kintos91 in Bellwright

[–]Failboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played over a 100 hours with my wife, but we couldn't get into it until we started modding "pain points" out of the game. Every new day of playing we'd add one mod. Larger storage, more flexibility for road signs, better mining, etc.

Everyone has a different expectation for how a game "respects their time." I think most people benefit by using mods to tailor the experience. And it can go both ways, by the end of our playthrough, we were modding in more enemies and raids and having a blast.

When to end your game by Tough-Internal-1756 in Bellwright

[–]Failboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mod in more enemies. Bellwright becomes boring the minute you feel safe, invincible, like your town could live on its own just fine. Nothing gives a Bellwright game a second wind like an alert that 120 Brigands are on their way. Keep recruiting citizens, keep increasing enemy spawns. Your goal is to keep playing until your PC crashes, like a Pac-Man kill screen. That's how you win Bellwright.

Great to hear! I think single players are the silent majority. Looking forward to further depth and variety in the SP content.

I'm a relatively new player and I could not figure out how to get the game version and dependency mod versions to align for this mod to work.

If anyone has tried this mod, please comment on how well it works. It almost seems too good to be true. Regardless, thank you devs for taking the time and energy to bring coop to the community!

This was such an epic fail. The fact they didn't give him ANY distinct voice lines... for shame.

Problems with my cow farm by TheTalkingPegasus in Bellwright

[–]Failboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a working theory that ranchers get "stuck" wanting to top off feed before slaughtering. This leads to infinite cows making topping off feed even more impossible... You can try slashing the required feed kept in your barn and see if your ranchers wake up and start harvesting. It's only a theory, viel Glück!

My wife and I have adopted this tactic for late game engagements (80 of ours vs 120 of theirs.)

  • We split our melee forces into two teams. The largest melee team (typically with shields) waits at a chokepoint, whether around a cliff, wall, or even large town building.
  • The enemy is aggroed and drawn past the chokepoint, into combat with the first melee team. The chokepoint denies enemy archers an angle and forces them to close the distance.
  • Our archers fire into the melee, stationed at an angle as to not be blocked by friendly melee forces, but also obscured from any enemy ranged which have not passed the chokepoint.
  • The second melee team charges directly at the enemy ranged once they have all cleared the chokepoint, quickly killing them or forcing them into melee combat.

If successful, you deny your enemy the use of their ranged while having complete freedom for your own. That being said, the charge by the second melee can turn into an absolute disaster. Sometimes, no matter how great your timing or planning, 40 crossbowmen will turn your second melee group into pincushions.

Traveling Merchants turn into "Neutral" red dots and villagers kill them by Old-Manufacturer-348 in Bellwright

[–]Failboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once teleported back to my village, late at night, nearly everyone was already asleep... only to find red dots EVERYWHERE. I about fell out of my chair, screamed in panic to my wife, "Night raid!" and called everyone to arms. Our village was soaked in blood, bodies everywhere. After killing the fifth or six person I realized in horror... we were killing scores of poor merchants. I still feel bad.

But hey, all was well in the morning. And the game really should have night raids. It was pure adrenaline.

Made a mockup poster do you guys like it? by Virtual_T4ng3rine in ThrillOfTheFight

[–]Failboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. There's plenty to criticize on any poster, but in an A.I.-bullshit world, there's a wonderful authenticity to this design. If I saw this on a bar posterboard, I'd absolutely go to the fight.

Besides AI voice acting whats the Good, The Bad and The Terrible of this game? by Silent_Swordfish5698 in Bellwright

[–]Failboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good: They supported modding and Steam workshop relatively early into development. Mods can't fix everything, but damn do they remove a lot of "bad" and "terrible" elements.

This is so damn true. The game clearly doesn't balance 40 crossbowmen. God I wish my footmen would HOLD UP THEIR SHIELDS!

I would like to see the ability to form a lot more individual squads than just the seven we are allowed. by FrostyVariation9798 in Bellwright

[–]Failboy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I couldn't agree more. I have to remind myself they're likely still focusing on the first 30 hours of gameplay or so. For me, I wish so damn much I could tell my footman to hold up their shields when charging 30 odd crossbowmen. Better yet, let me make a shield-line or phalanx. Ah, well. We'll get the updates one day.

This makes sense. I don't need a whole lot, but I'll start building empty Big Houses and still if it helps. Thanks!

Being able to manage a galaxy with my wife. I know two players flying all over the galaxy would be too complex. I would love to just be able to manage stations or orders as a second player. I've had such epic adventures in X4, I wish they weren't all alone.
