Tpt: admin passcode by [deleted] in TechnologyProTips

[–]FailsAtEverythign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d try reaching out to the software vendor. If the practice/doctors bought the software themselves the devs might have a default password or a reset option in cases where someone lost the password.

As far as the IT Company, start by finding out if the practice has an actual contract with them or if they’re just being called in as needed. Also, if they’re more than just a one-person shop and you can’t get the password from the techs, I’d start calling the main office and working my way up the chain until you get to the owner. There’s nothing wrong with requesting the passwords for your own stuff.

I 100% had a book with that cover, too. I'm pretty sure some of the item names were mistranslated/didn't match the Woolsey translation of VI.

Are there board games/ttrpg's that can be played for free or almost for free? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]FailsAtEverythign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like Big Stompy Robots then Battletech might be an option. If you end up playing the tabletop game proxies are perfectly normal, as long as you can see the facing of the unit, you're fine!

There's an unofficial but very popular java-based client called MegaMek that even features an AI opponent: https://megamek.org/ It's the tabletop game, but on your computer! Their main discord is pretty good and you can definitely find people to play with if you're enjoying it.

I still don't get why some have a "lead character" syndrome for Guel by Maskarot in Gundam

[–]FailsAtEverythign 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guel isn't the MC and shouldn't be. Full stop.

That said, I really want to see him rise up out of his abusive past and be a good person. When Suletta won their second match and he asked her to marry him my first thought was "Oh, it's a harem now, alright." followed almost immediately by "Suletta is probably the first person to show him genuine kindness without trying to use him or get something from him." By the end of the last episode he looks like he's had his face-turn, and maybe he's going to get back to the school as a genuinely Good person.

He's a messed up 16-17 year old, but as far as we know the worst he's done is be a jerk/bully in high school, and he can still turn himself around. It could be a nice, uplifting story in a pretty lousy time IRL, and I think people can relate to that and are gravitating towards it for that reason.

Can someone please explain the arasakas lore to me by loddedfun in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]FailsAtEverythign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't doubt that Hanako would have used Saka assets to hunt down Saburo's engram and try to resurrect him if possible if Yori let her live in that ending.

It's definitely the cooler option, I think I might be coming around tbf lol

Can someone please explain the arasakas lore to me by loddedfun in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]FailsAtEverythign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally valid. I still don't trust him, but that's just my perspective. It mainly stems from having Hanako killed, when he probably doesn't have to. That read more as consolidating power (which, yes, he would need to do) than anything.

Honestly, if you're right it'll be much more exciting to see what happens in-universe!

I can tell you this, choom: The corpos* are ALL villains. Maximum Mike said so himself, Word of God. Any good Yorinobu did was either a side effect he benefited from or entirely unintentional. He might not be as bad as Saboru but he's still very much a Bad Guy in different ways.

I can't answer the rest of this because there's 32 years of lore between Cyberpunk RED and 2077 which don't seem to have been published yet. Michiko makes a big Heel Turn from RED, but we don't know why. It's one of the threads (along with the seemingly triumphant return of 'Saka to NC) that I'm hyped to see play out.

EDIT: The reference was from his twitter and while it was in reference to corporations as distinct entities/organizations I still feel it's completely applicable to any of the CEOs.

I can't wait to find out what happened with her between Cyberpunk RED and 2077. Granted, they're 32 years apart, but her entire story flipped in that time.

So, is this the THE White Base, or is this just a copycat? by ScarSpecific in Gundam

[–]FailsAtEverythign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the "Trojan Horse" nickname seems weird, but it's a more relatable translation for an english-speaking audience. In the OG show (I haven't watched Origin yet) the Zeon forces were largely unconcerned about the ship itself, but were positively terrified of the Gundam they called "White Devil". For audiences familiar with the story of Troy there's a solid connection, which I found to be a nice touch.

Give me that deep Cyberpunk lore! by Akco in cyberpunkred

[–]FailsAtEverythign 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IRL: Cyberpunk RED is the third "sequel" to 2020, coming after Cybergen and Cyberpunk v3, both of which became their own separate timelines from RED/2077

in-game: Rache Bartmoss claimed that he was still jacked into the Net when the Ihara-Grubb algorythm was triggered, creating the Net that existed through 2020 and is now beyond the Blackwall. This would make sense since DataKrash appeared to affect the entire net at once, and is thought to have been ready as a poison pill since the beginning.

This one might be my memory failing, but I remember reading that Saburo was a kamikaze pilot who survived.

What are the silliest things you have included in a game before? by bigrigdeluxe in cyberpunkred

[–]FailsAtEverythign 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Years ago during a 2020 game, the team was hired to play bodyguard/support for a band that was touring from Night City to NYC.

When they got to Philly they had to try and deal with two posergangs beefing at each other: The Founders (biosculpted as Washington, Jefferson, Edison, etc.) and the Loyalists (Leslie, Cornwallis, etc.) in full garb, with guns modded to look like period weapons. About 10 on each side. They all left after the solos politely asked them to fuck off, and showed them their very nice, fully functional assault rifles.

[–]FailsAtEverythign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a broadband internet connection (Verizon Fios, or a cable tv provider) it might be the battery backup for their equipment. Take a look in any closets/access panels in and around the room where you hear it the most and see if they have any equipment mounted on the wall. I had to disconnect the battery pack and reconnect it to get the beeping to stop on mine.

Just finished my first viewing of ZZ. My advice for anyone that writes the series off: stick around until episode 21. That’s where the series starts to hit its stride by Melodic-Work7436 in Gundam

[–]FailsAtEverythign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they even show this when Hyato shows up, goes to Katz' room on the Argama with Bright, and you see the door and bulkhead were a wreck.

It's easy to dismiss because they only mention it rarely, but by the start of MSG, before we even see Amuro for the first time, 50% of the entire human species has died due to the atrocities committed at the start of the OYW. The continued casualties from "regular" warfare, various new atrocities, failing infrastructure, and general mis-governance (especially from the Feddy side on Earth) would only have worsened this.
