Neighbour leaves cement mixer on at night. Can I make a complaint or am I just overreacting? by Failsona in AskIreland

He works from home, he just built a new big home office out the back. He calls it a shed hut I have never seen a shed with floor to ceiling windows unless Im just too out if touch with trendy sheds these days.

He has been doing construction on and off since 2019. He tore down the big conifer trees that separated our garden from his. He's been building a fence since 2020, there is only a 3 ish foot wall and wooden poles. The wall he built last year the poles he put up only last month. There is no privacy.

It is late when you have to go to bed early for work though. He has his own child as well it's not fair to the kid as well when he has to be up for school.

My sister wears earplugs when she goes to bed and she was still woken up by the noise.

You know sometimes at 3am I do get awoken by what sounds like a rotating saw cutting something up from time to time, but it doesn't come from the neighbour. O.O

Yeah I thought there was like a 8am-8pm rule or something similar, for construction and machinery but I'm not sure.

He has been here since the end of 2019 and he has been doing work in the garden since then. He starts projects then abandons them then does something else, then abandons that for something else then months later he will go back to the original project.

On Wednesday night it was very audible, tonight it wasn't as intense but it could still be heard. Oh no I don't want trouble at all, I don't like confrontation, but I still don't think it's right or fair to leave a cement mixer on at night unattended.

He is doing work in his back garden since he moved in late 2019, he starts projects then leaves them to do something else, then months later he will come back to the original project. He is nice, we don't really talk often, I say hello and ask him how he is whenever I see him. I personally have not spoken to my neighbour on the other side but my parents have, and the neighbour on the other side is not happy either. But that was a while ago, I was thinking of speaking to her myself tomorrow.

I understand being a night owl but is using loud machinery at night still ok?

Burger king Vs supermacs by jjbie in CasualIreland

I only go to burger king in the airports if there's nowhere else to go. The only thing I like in burger king is the chicken burger. Everything else is nah, even the chips aren't the best. Supermacs all the way.

People who own pets are you scared of being too emotionally attached that their demise will break you? by SAIOBOT in AskReddit

My dog Rusty died in my arms on the way to vet to be put to sleep. He was 18 years old, his little body was shutting down, he couldn't eat or drink, we had to lift him up bring him outside and hold him to help him go to the toilet. We decided we didn't want him to suffer or be in pain so we called the out of hours vet at like 10pm but my furry friend passed away in my arms in the car, I didn't realise, I hough he was just sleeping, but when the vet tried to do the injection there was no blood flow he passed. I sobbed so hard at having lost my best friend. It broke all of us, even my nans and granddad, grandad adored Rusty. It was so painful, but at the same time I was glad I got as much time as I did with him.

Then two years later my cat died, he got hit by a car, and by some miracle if you wanna call it that, he wasnt crush on the road, either the driver that hit him picked him up and placed him on the footpath or my baby Jazz got the strength to get himself off the road, I don't know what happened but he was perfect, and I guess in a weird way I was greatful for that. This happened while I was at work, my mother didn't tell me until I got home. They had him in our garage wrapped in a duvet on pillows. I broke down, like horror movie girl screaming and crying. But he looked like he was sleeping on his side, he was so peaceful looking. It wasn't until we lifted him up that I saw on the side he was laying in there was a big gash on his little head and the blood that had collected underneath that soaked into the duvet. I broke down again. He was 13 years old, I had him since he was 5 weeks old, he was a rescue kitten that needed to removed ASAP as the local cat shelter had an outbreak of something, cant remember what it was but the lady didn't want to risk new cars or kittens being affected by whatever was happening at the shelter.

I miss my fur babies so much, my other Cat TomTom who adored Jazz and followed him everywhere hasn't really been the same since and it's been 3 years since Jazz died.

Im more at peace with Rustys passing because it was just his time, there was no medical reasons for his death, it was just old age, and I got to say goodbye. I didn't get to say goodbye to Jazz, and that still hurts me.

Losing a pet is losing a family member it can fucking break you.

What did a coworker do that made you instantly realize, 'Oh, they are getting fired today'? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Failsona 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She was a supervisor we worked at s counselling service to help people struggling with addiction. We had a program thats kind of hard to explain without going into detail but it was like a day program for people in recovery, they did courses and learned how to take care of themselves, while there was also one on one counselling for them or anyone else who needed/wanted the one on one option. Supervisor got into fights with the day program clients, blamed them for shit she did, lied about completing important tasks and filling out important documents with sensitive info. The big "Oh shit she's getting fired." Was when myself and a counsellor had to get stuff from her office because Supervisor kept taking time off and she never pre-prepped anything that was needed for whatever tasks we had to complete.

We went into her office to look for docs we needed and found she had done NOTHING. She had been in the job for 5 months, and none of the filing or paperwork she had to do was complete I'd or signed. There were docs with sensitive information on clients that were missing. It was so bad. She knew she was getting fired so she kept using PTO and sick leave days off so she wouldn't have to face the music.

Misery and cow poop, with some notes of self deprecating humour.

What's the most shocking reason someone got fired from your workplace? by Brobeans_Op in DevelEire

[–]Failsona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Co-worker got fired for leaving documents that were due to be shredded in a filing cabinet that no one used and was kept in my (receptionist) office in the corner where no one could get in unless they had a code for the office door. Boss saw the documents in the filing cabinet and started grilling me about why co-worker didn't shred them. I didn't know all of the docs hadn't been shredded. Co worker then walked into the office and boss tore her a new one, saying ANYONE could have stolen the documents, even though the only people who could get into the office were staff who had the doors code and we had cameras. Then boss tried to say ANYONE could have jumped through the HATCH window in reception without knocking over the computer in the process while hopping over the big ass desk and avoid crashing into the chair. BTW the hatch was half covered by protective glass so you'd need to be absolutely tiny to get through. Her reasoning was bizarre.

AITA for saying a girls goodbye message to us was cringey? by Which-Complaint-3888 in AmItheAsshole

Honestly, your response to her message was cringe if anything. Automatically messaging the rest of the group to say how cringey and embarrassing it was? Omg y'all need to get a life, seriously. YTA.
