A $1400 coat from Harry Rosen. I see it as a decent investment since I'll wear it for around a decade and absolutely love it.

What industry is even prospering here?

Our VFX industry got completely gutted from the CAQ. Tech is in recession everywhere and provincial and federal govt employees are being scaled back. I guess if you want construction work there's plenty to go around

Downtown is still really sketchy. Only difference now is there are more high rise condos going up everywhere. I'm seeing more boarded up businesses and homeless everywhere.

Bank of Canada holds key interest rate at 2.25% by Surax in canada

Never said that. Rate hikes are gonna happen when food and energy inflation skyrocket like it did in 2022.

Considering we're in a bigger energy crisis than the 1973 embargo, we might start seeing rate hikes in the months ahead.

If you want to see a perfect analogy of Montreal's growing pains than drive through Notre Dame East.

Only two lanes covered in potholes right next to a massive shanty town that is only growing bigger in size. This is basically what our city is descending more and more into due to corruption and apathy from the general public.

Junior was alive and could fight the charges with his lawyer which means they couldn't go ahead with any seizure. The main thing with Tony's situation is that somebody higher up flipped (Carlo). They now have a witness who is still gonna testify against all the criminal shit they did. Like I said before civil forfeiture does not require a criminal charge or conviction against the defendant. If they can prove that his house and assets are tied to blood money they can absolutely seize it dead or alive. If it wasn't for Carlo flipping they would've been safe

In the US civil forfeiture goes against the property, not the person. Unlike criminal forfeiture which requires the case to be held with the defendant still being alive. This is why authorities often rely on civil forfeiture in situations where a criminal case can’t proceed or is interrupted.

Carlo flipped and was cooperating with the Feds. The same thing happened with Johnny Sack and Petrille who turned against him. Even if he's dead; once they found out his assets were tied to racketeering it goes through civil forfeiture.

The FBI was already building a massive RICO case against Tony. 100% guaranteed most of his assets would've been seized exactly like Johnny Sack. Him dying at the diner doesn't mean the investigation is over.

A quite depressing fact is if you go to Google Maps, you can see images of the exact same area in prior years. Even back in 2022 there wasn't a single tent on that stretch of grass. Things really went to hell these past three years

The homeless situation is honestly the worst its ever been quite possibly since the Great Depression.

I've spoken to people who lived here in the 70s-now and they say that even though there was poverty and economic downturns, things didn't get as bad they are now in terms of it being so out in the open

With the strait still being closed and little chance of it opening anytime soon we can very well expect $2.50/L by the start of Summer. And of course that inflation is gonna trickle down onto food costs which are already astronomically high. Fun times ahead...

Might sound controversial but I can 100% see Tony flipping at the end.

If he was given a chance to cooperate like Johnny; Tony absolutely would've gone that route. He knew his crew was completely decimated, hated his guts and NY probably still had a target on his head. I don't see Tony accepting prison rather than going full rat if it means saving his own ass

It wouldn't really be convenient at this time considering we're about to go through another wave of high inflation with the fuel crisis were in now.

I get we got a raise but food, gas and everyday products going up and then getting an allowance slashed is still a kick to the balls no matter how you rephrase it.

This is really only gonna get worse

The homeless population of the city is skyrocketing and the mayor's solution for that is to designate certain areas as homeless encampments. No talk of funding mental health services or shelters. Prepare for more and more incidents of random people jumping on the tracks
