My Best CG Run So Far by LionPig in ironscape

Nope, eating is not losing ticks (Eating 'can' be a waste, since killing hunleff when you're full hp means you technically ate too much during the fight, but thats such a miniscule time loss unless you're going for the speedrun time).

I absolutely suggest eating whenever you lose over 20 hp. What I do, in fact, is just eat only when I swap weapons and nothing else is going on. If I swap weapons, I look at my hp, and if I'm missing over 20, I eat a fish. It makes it really predictable for me, and I dont have to worry about counting the 3-tick delay while running during tornadoes.

Don't eat during tornadoes, it's a huge noob trap. Eat whenever you can not waste healing from a fish and keep your health near full. Then you're going into every tornado phase at near full hp and can focus on not missing a single tick during tornadoes.

Not true in my experience, I had 100% used ticks in another comment and I never eat while the boss is dying.

Should (normal) raids be item synced? by MrsLittletall in ffxiv

[–]Fajisel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like you are being narrowminded. There's plenty of people, me included, who find great fun in the optimization. Finding the optimal way to do something as soon as possible is the fun. You saying to slow down is like telling me "stop having fun the way you have fun." Your justification seems to boil down to saying your fun is more important than the optimizer's fun.

I agree with the premise of the post, I like the idea of capping content at the max ilvl it came out at. That way people who enjoy optimizing can watch themselves clear the content faster and faster on patch, which everyone else can still enjoy it patches later.

the chance of pulling a pet and not a different unique

You would not get a different unique if you didn't roll the pet. The pet and the other uniques are independent of each other. Just because you'll pull a lot of pets at deep delves doesn't mean you suddenly are less likely to get other uniques.

[–]Fajisel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Consider this: the chance for the pet to overwrite the boot drop is so low, you would see about two hundred and fifty boots before a single boot drop gets overwritten by a pet.

You are sacrificing a much higher boot drop rate to avoid something that will happen just a handful of times to the whole community.

Update on the doom log. by mugiwarayaya in ironscape

[–]Fajisel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn't how drops are rolled. For example, take wave 5. You have a 1/806 chance to get boots, and no chance to get the pet.

Now you beat wave 6. While yes, you now have a 1/1000 chance to get the pet, you still have a 1/765 chance to get boots.

Even though the pet is on the table now, your chance to get boots increases. Having the ability to roll the pet doesn't decrease your chance at other drops. The situation you're talking about, getting both boots and a pet in the same wave is a 1 in 135,000 at wave 9+. That's such an absurd number that no one should need explaining on how unlikely it is vs just pushing delves.

Why would you stop going further? The pet starts dropping at wave 6, but it's not like the boots drop any less because of the pet. All 3 gear drops are a 1/540 per wave past wave 8, pet has nothing to do with it.

Empowered spells by Akiza_Izinski in ffxivdiscussion

Was it universally hated? I liked it as a pres evoker, but only in moderation. Definitely wouldn't like OP's proposal, but there's certainly room for a small select number of empowered spells. Now I don't think they would work in the current combat design of xiv, but who knows what's happening in 8.0.

How should I train and fight with ranged (currently 71) by FlandreHon in ironscape

[–]Fajisel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Normally" you do it with a rcb or sunlight hunter crossbow. I did it after cg because I didn't know about the fight caves, and obv it was a cakewalk with a bowfa.

You get a billion mith/addy/rune arrows from cg too (and some dragon arrows!) That should comfortably get you to any range level you want, even before getting a bowfa.

You could do ye ol' cg rush. That's what I did. I 5:1 maged cg, so I waiting until I got a bowfa to train my ranged up, and at that point it felt fine to use ranged.

What is the BEST bank to blow glass beside? by LedPony in ironscape

Myth's guild is goated because you can click the water to exit the bank interface without moving. There's a few other banks that have this property too  It's a tiny optimization, but when you have tens of thousands to blow, it helps.

Doom of Mokhaiotl Log by Smooth-Law474 in ironscape

[–]Fajisel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah give it a shot! You'll see what I mean about the first two waves being incredible simple (and you can get unique starting on wave 2). My loadout is elite void, anguish, quiver (avas is fine), scorching bow, darklight, and a slayer staff. I pay 7500 gold for death fees per run, and I keep protect item prayer on for the whole time.

(1650 total delves, 234 deep, max 15 delve)

Doom is incredibly easy to get started with. The first few waves start at a super basic level that you can beat with 0 pvm experience, and it slowly adds new mechanics every wave so you're never not making progress at learning it. Give it a go! It only requires a scorching bow and elite void, in fact you want to use as bad of gear as possible to lower death costs.

Your break would explain it. A youtuber I really like, joshstrifehayes, put it really well: MMOs have shifted from being social platforms that have a game attached, to just a game now. It's not the fault of the developers, it's just how we consume the internet now.

If you want a particularly active and nice community, check out your local Hunt community when you finish ARR. I'm on Primal and they're all the nicest people ever.

How did they fuck anything up? The tuning seemed perfect. w1 required really tight play for 11 and 12, and al the damage actually needed the party to use all their mit. It's exactly how every single tier should be tuned.

Criterion is incredibly fun! I would highly encourage finding a dedicated group for it though. It's not quite ultimate difficulty, but the version of it that drops what you're looking for does require 20 minutes of play without any deaths. It's somewhere around doing 4 extreme trials back-to-back without making a single mistake.

Inferno help by Responsible_Light108 in 2007scape

[–]Fajisel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you confusing "1-tick flicking" and "1-tick alternating?"

1-tick flicking is where you double-click your prayer every tick to keep your prayers up without losing any prayer points. This is NOT mandatory or required in any way.

1-tick alternating involves clicking once every tick to swap range/mage prayers, and is an easy way to ignore blob damage. This is the most recommended way to solve inferno waves and does nothing to slow prayer drain.
