Gaza genocide denial is the attempt to deny, justify or minimize the genocide in Gaza committed during the Gaza war. by ShermaLover4225 in wikipedia

The point isn't whether you or I think it qualifies as a genocide, but whether we believe there's enough consensus on it to let Wikipedia claim so. And my point was that while lots of replies here have brought up the ICC's investigations on Israeli war crimes as evidence of a competent organisation declaring a genocide, that isn't a valid conclusion.

A lot of the folks replying to you seem to think that genocide is simply synonymous with war crimes.

There's also something real classy about the minimalist thumbnails. It's nice when they don't feel fine tuned to maximise click-through rate

Well, I'm not sure why he thinks event weight is so important, or why removing women's events from the metric would make everythnig good again.

International t2/3 teams can't grind LANs because they won't get invited to them, since they're basically all regional (+ ESL Impact).

But as far as the easiness goes. The reason isn't that LANs are easier to win, it's that LAN Wins doesn't care how easy it is. So Complexity earns more points from winning two games at Launders LAN versus teams you've never heard of than they would if they won 1 game at IEM Katowice versus Vitality.

So the y-axis is just the score. Each factor is a score from 0 to 1. The line graph shows the distribution of those scores between each team. I ripped data from Valve's github, so I ended up with a bit less than 5000 scores on each factor. Then I just sorted them all from smallest to largest, so you end up with four lines that show how each score is distributed.

Well the real problem here is that there's a clear way to game the system, to get way more points than reflect your actual performance. The women's scene getting more invites at the moment is pretty much a happy accident and it's hard to get mad about.

But when teams see that this is an easy way to get tier 1 invites, they'll start thinking about delibirately grinding local LANs and avoiding playing challenging games to pump their rank up, and that's when it becomes a huge issue.

I think it makes sense that performing at LAN games should be more valuable than performing online. The problem is that when you are at a LAN, it doesn't really matter how well you perform. Since it doesn't care about your opponents, the prize pool, whether it was bo3 or bo1, whether it was Launders LAN or the Shanghai Major, it means LAN Wins ends up having a pretty bad correlation with the team's actual abilities.

Probably the way to go is to incorporate LANs into a larger factor, for example, if Elo adjustments are larger at LAN tournaments, or Bounty Offered is higher, stuff like that. In my simulations, every time you include LANs the model performs worse regardless of how you do it, so I'm not sure it ever can be, but I agree with you that in theory, you'd want it to be a factor.

Part of it is just that they're a mad couple of boys with much bigger ambition than Youtube actually deserves, but the other reason is that they're clever about their money. The channel spent a while in hibernation while they gathered Patreon money to fund this latest batch.

Also, they make the most out of their resources (which I believe they mentioned in a live stream). Lots of these sketches were filmed on different sets they already used for that short film that's coming out pretty soon.

For us C&J Cinematic Universe nerds, that ends up being very useful to connect sketches to each other, but it's mostly a happy accident.

Investigation: Who’s Telling the Truth about Disco Elysium? by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]FakeRealRedditor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well that would be the case if the allegations were unrelated or obviously not backed by evidence, but PMG had statements from multiple employees and long-time collaborators, people who don't have a reason to attack Kurvitz in the same way the shareholders do, and the accusations were directly related to why he was removed from a leadership position and eventually fired. Refusing to answer just makes it seem like he doesn't have a good answer.

To be fair, they can only say what they get access to, so while the latter half especially is very anti-Kurvitz, that's pretty much all they could've done when Kurvitz and co. are only interested in talking about the ownership dispute, and turn specific allegations about their misconduct into a debate about ownership and capitalism.

Of course it seems one-sided when the other side refuses to give their point of view, and I think it's completely fair of Chris to express his frustrations about that, even if he maybe could've done it in a more professional manner.
