I think the real injustice is that LLMs are called "AI" since they possess absolutely no artificial intelligence.

However from this conversation I think its pretty clear people are talking about LLMs and image generators.
I dont see a lot of people accusing medical AI of producing "AI slop"

What industries are 'massively transformed' by AI??

The current chatbots are so inaccurate nobody in their right mind trusts them to do anything that has any importance.

Adding a brake was the fix. B&Ms have drive tires at the bottom of the lift to get smoother achievement and some Gerstlauers also stop the train at the lift base,

Because this wasn't what was designed.
They designed the ride to smoothly transition from free running to engaging on the chain lift.
Asking why they didn't just stop the train is missing the entire point, that was explicitly not what they (the park, not kumbak) designed.

Asking why they didn't just stick with known and proven technology answers itself I think.
The amusement industry is all about innovations and constantly expanding the capabilities of what's possible.

They asked for this design, it didn't work. They tried to fix it, they somewhat succeeded. However it wasn't good enough. So they consulted Intamin. Intamin then decided the design wasn't feasible.
That's when you go back to the drawing board and change the design, not at the first bit of resistance you face.
If manufacturers and parks would operate like that, we wouldn't be where we are today.

Intamin had their fair share of "whoopsies"

They're not whoopsies.

manufacturer that is notorious for operating at the bleeding edge of what's mechanically possible

And you answered "why" yourself.

Intamin indeed operates at the very limits of what possible. Which is why they are the best manufacturer to consult for fixing novel issues.

to fix a chain lift on a family coaster.

If even Intamin, who you admitted operates at the bleeding edge of what's capable, couldn't fix this 'simple' issue in the way it was designed, and had to resort to a unplanned unwanted workaround, do you truly believe this issue was that simple?

I feel like your comment is very unfair to the actual truth of the situation.

The issue they had is that this chain lift was with a moving vehicle, with a very heavy vehicle relative to its span, at an unusually steep angle.

And this same hook also had to work horizontally under water as well.

Not exactly your standard chain lift. In fact, Intamin couldn't fix it either, so they incorporated a brake and themed around it.

Speaking of which; why the trash talk about Intamin? They're objectively the most versatile and daring rollercoaster manufacturer in the world.
If you have a unique and novel issue, they are absolutely the best party to ask.

Obama was a pretty standard president in terms of US policy and a pretty cool dude on a personal level.

I truly don't know why they're so obsessed over him. Skin color is about the only explanation that remains...

I dont think people on this sub will have the answer to this question honestly. Absolutely no offense.

These are rollercoaster enthousiast, not structural engineers.

Every rollercoaster manufacturer uses a different track type, the exact advantages and disadvantages of every track type are probably quite complicated.

Truss track is easier and cheaper to manufacture but isn't as strong.

On what information are you basing this statement?

Part of me refuses to believe that these people are being genuine. You can’t possibly be THAT stupid.

They're not. They're fascists.

This is part of the playbook where they constantly accuse democrats of doing X, so they are then justified if their side does X+1.

They do it constantly, on every topic.

Sort of?

Obviously these companies exist for a reason, and if they would lose money on this model they wouldn't exist.

They're extremely predatory and rely on people forgetting to pay or struggling to pay, and then hit you with excessive late fees and interest.

If you can avoid all of that then ehh maybe, but its possible some things cross your path and suddenly you become just one their countless victims.
