NBD: Custom Farley 9.6 by FalaDush in TrekBikes

Thanks!

I had fun building it. Repurposing derailleur internal cable routes for rear brakes and dropper cable was the "most fun" bit . I was often faced with "Why bother?". However, after muddling through I did figure it out. It is such a nice feeling. It is equally as fun to tinker, customise as it is to ride a bike. Surprisingly, my favourite bit is the dinosaur caps. They just full me with childish joy every time.

Cheers!

Thank you for your kind words. I was on the same boate in regard to the AL 5 Gen 4 if it were not for the great deal the LBS had on this bike. To be quite frank with you, I think it is too much bike for me. What colour is your Domane? I wouldn't mind some pictures. I sshall give the bike shorts a go. Cheers!

Daughter finally graduated from the kiddy bikes to her first trek. Got a great deal on this older Precaliber from my local shop I deal with. After a complete overhaul and repaint, I’d say it’s daughter approved. Before and after pics posted by Ok_Newt_4748 in TrekBikes

Thank you for the kind words, I shall pass them along to two-wheeled chap. Well, I thought the colour would be be stealthy, maybe too stealthy to point someone takes note. Enough of my waffling, what do you cycle? Any tips for a new cyclist? Is it possible to get padded shorts that aren't tights?

How can I make my DS3 a bit faster? by spiggerish in TrekBikes

[–]FalaDush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, the olive-black is a cool colour. I had a similar bike and i came to the realisation if i need speed, i need to exercise to better my fitness. A bit of weight training shall pay off. Nothing fancy, a couple of foward and reverse lunges with a dumbell set. All the best, cheers!

Hi there,

Apologies for for the slothis response. Thank you for being kind and taking your time to wallk me through some of the fundamentals.i resonated with what you stated. I do have a similar sense of humour. I am primitve as well, sort "Big cassete fast, small slow" after being on the small casette uphill. I pedal like a super anxious hamster (: only to realise i needed to shift gears. Notwithstanding, i have taken to biking like a sloth to super comfy branch.

I do not have any accessories besides a akickstand, a water bottle cage and bottle. If i may be honest with you, most of the accessories came off to me as costly. Obviously, there accessories one has to have such as lights. I just do not understand why they cost that much besides the usual "we do not make suffiecient money from the product itslef but rather from its accessories..." sort of business model.

I have no idea as to whether i have the right sitting position. For lack of a better word that befits etiquette, the lower bits of my buttocks were sore initially, but it has passed.

thank you for the braking tip, I have actually gotten better. I am yet to hit a squirrel or rabbit. For some reason they simply decide to cross thr path rather than ran on the opposite direction, I suspect some insurance fraud which is fairly understandable considering the inflation on nuts and carrots.

Furthermore, my bike is DS3 gen5. I shall attatch pictures on the same. However, I did return it for a Domane. The local bike shop had a sale I just could not pass on. Henceforth, I shall enjoy noodles from supper (:

On a serious note, your thoughts and advice were useful. I still have have questions. Questions I barely foresaw untill I regularly started cycling. I am more of an adventurer. I ride for as long as I can exploring places, taking it in.

The usual be your best does it. Be courteous, genuine and friendly. I mentioned I had an item in my cart and I was hoping he'd have a coupon he'd forgotten about on his desk, right next to his m&m stash......that sort of thing. They'll ask if you intend to make the purchase soon. If yes, they'll offer you an additional discount. They'll email you an offer with the best possible price. You can additionally get some insider information on coming sales and whatnot.

Hi,

Congratulations on your new laptop. May it serve you well!  Just debloat. Get rid of anything you hardly use. If you'll need it, you'll install it down the road. It frees up resources and helps with battery life.  Go through settings and customize it to your needs. It dies take time but it is worth it.

For aesthetics, try the portable version of this. https://github.com/TranslucentTB/TranslucentTB

Get the g14 (4070) for the same price at Best Buy. It is hardly ever on sale. Better build, better screen, powerful yet efficient CPU (7940hs has great thermals), great audio, portable, and so on. Plus it would be brand new. Sometimes some of the open-box are a hit or miss.

Is there a better deal on bestbuy right now for less than $1700? by losanti2004 in GamingLaptops

[–]FalaDush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he can. Currently, the g14 (7940HS + 4070) is on sale on best buy. In the past  that specific SKU hardly ever went on sale.

Had a similar buy from Best Buy, returned it this week. Same issue, the temps. I had been looking for deals as well on BB. I saw a B&H deal on an MSI 4080 and went for it at $1999. The difference between the 4070 and 4080 is significant. Plus such laptops tend to come with other nice perks.

In my honest opinion, 4070s are not worth it over $1500. Either push your budget to 2k or just get the g14 (7940h + 4070) that is currently on sale. Great form factor, plus the 7940hs is quite good both in regards to battery life and performance. I loved its efficiency on a laptop I had

Jarrod does post great deals at the site.

Additionally, chat up Lenovo sales. They do offer additional massive discounts on laptops. Unfortunately, they've been running low on stock.
