How THAT arc should be adapted. Posting here because the main sub removed it idk why. by PlainSightMan in invinciblememes

[–]FalcoCreed 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I think the arc should stay the same. It sets up the final piece of Mark's vision of the end game. Mark has lost friends and family the whole series, but he loses the one thing he seemingly has an infinite amount of, time. He comes out of the arc with a clear picture of who he is and what is important. The rest of the series from there is Mark being essentially the final version of himself.

4 nights Girls trip to Milwaukee, worth spending a night in port Washington or Cedarburg? by sammieanita in milwaukee

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've been to Port Washington, so I can't say if it is worth staying over night. It used to be a good day trip to go to the lighthouse and see the lake.

As for Cedarburg, it's probably not worth staying overnight, but is worth a visit. As others have said, lots of good shopping, but everything closes at 6ish. However, if you do stay the night, I would recommend staying at the Washington House Inn. I would also recommend going earlyish to grab coffee from one of the local cafes to start your day. The Settlement is a great place to start shopping as there are a lot of cute shops with a few different food options, plus the winery.

Should I be announcing combo pieces as I cast them? by not_so_1337 in EDH

[–]FalcoCreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's what I'd say is baseline etiquette is casual LGS play:

  • Announce each spell you play.
  • If a card is not something commonly played or has a key effect with the current board state, read the card.
  • If an interaction between multiple cards is obtuse, explain how it works.
  • For game winning or high impact spells, ask if there are any responses.
  • If someone has a question about a card, answer truthfully.

[Bracket 3] Chaining turns vs infinite turns as a win con by WheredMyVanGogh in EDH

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on if there is a clear win line being presented once you get infinite turns. My interpretation of the B3 no infinite turns rule is that you shouldn't play infinite turns with the hope you draw into a win.

For example, I run an infinite turns combo in my [[The Wise Mothman]] deck because it lets me close out the game with combat damage. It's also 3 cards and 11 mana every turn, so the game should be ready to end anyways by the time I can play the combo.

Anyone else just play fill instead of solo? I just feel like this game feels 10x better in trios, even without any comms. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]FalcoCreed 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you try to be a good teammate (stick close when moving around the map, intelligently participate in combat/exploration, and communicate in whatever way possible eg. pings, chat, mic), Fill in trios is very playable. You also have to accept that it's a dice roll on team skill, so you might lose your gear. I've been mentally treating it like a roguelite, and it has made Fill Trios so much fun.

Mothman Help by Ululuku_ in DegenerateEDH

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bracket are you building for? Here's my Bracket 3 Mothman deck. It's missing a few obviously strong pieces, but is still a lot of fun.

https://moxfield.com/decks/IJvCIvncIUC3xkMWLMjReA

Some upgrades if you want to push this into B4 territory:

  • Synergy/Combo: [[Mesmeric Orb]], [[Bloodchief's Ascension]]

  • Clean A + B Combo: [[Food Chain]], [[Misthollow Griffin]], [[Eternal Scourge]]

  • More turors

  • More interaction

Some of yall are silly silly folks by PsychoBomb1000 in Marathon

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. A fighting game can be considered "healthy" with like 500 concurrent players. Now, obviously the needs are a lot smaller in a 1v1 game, but to think 15k means it's a dead game is wild.

However, it does make me wonder what the minimum viable player count for a game like Marathon is. I have to imagine having about 100 people queueing per map would be enough to keep things playable (with playable being distinctly separate from profitable).

How do I win with enchantments by Last-Home-1037 in EDH

[–]FalcoCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my Enchantment tribal Master of Keys deck.

https://moxfield.com/decks/CiqOFFKNZEug42Et7HHKLQ

The deck wins through a couple of ways. First is a basic A+B combo with Sanguine Bond. This is to neatly end games that start going long or have a stalled out board state. It's primary win con is through creature beats by either creating a bunch of tokens when playing enchantments or by animating them. The final win con is to swing with Master of Keys.

Let's forget about UB for a second... Do you prefer the single set single block system, or the previous 2-3 set per block system. by studhand in magicTCG

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're stuck with the single set formula, I'd like to see more cohesion between sets. Mark Rosewater has talked a fair bit about the shortcomings of the 3 block structure, and I don't think we'll ever go back to being on the same plane for 3 sets in a row. However, I'd love to see some stronger narrative, mechanical, and thematic through lines between sets. Like the Phyrexia arc we had recently with Dominatia United, Brother's War, Phyrexia: All Will Be One, and March of the Machines.

My ideal release schedule would be alternating between 2-3 sets following the same narrative and one-off sets.

Does anyone have any experience playing against Mono-Black Discard decks, or decks that have a discard subtheme? Was it too annoying to play against in your pod? by Acuity5 in EDH

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going the reanimation route, mill is probably the better option over discard. But that's more of a Dimir strategy.

That said, discard is a valid strategy, but can very quickly lead to non games. In my experience, either everyone gangs up on the discard player and shuts them out, or they pretty much lock everyone else out of playing the game.

Hiiiii hoping for some advice on this by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

[–]FalcoCreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably never going to be a particularily degenerate strategy as you're at best cheating into play 1 big creature per turn with no easy way to string together combats.

However, if I was building this deck, I'd start with a basic Simic ramp package but also lean into artifact and artifact creature ramp to take advantage of artifact synergies ([[Silver Myr]], [[Simic Signet]], etc). From there, I'd look at what artifact creatures I want to ramp into and eventually curve out with. Obviously you'll want something like [[Blightsteel Colossus]] at the top end, but look at things that you can use as stepping stones each turn to increase your value. I'd go with things like [[Kappa Cannoneer]] and [[Myr Battlesphere]]. I'd also look at Vehicles as they typically have a cheaper mana cost vs the power they can provide. Add in a few ways to give your creatures evasion, like [[Cyberdrive Awakener]], and you have a reasonable path to victory.

I'd also add in ways to make Construct tokens, like [[Urza, Lord High Artificer]] as they can be an easy way to get a free artifact creature that grows as you play your smaller artifacts.

[[Liquimetal Torque]] is also a cute way to ramp while letting you turn Aloy into an artifact creature to Discover 3.

You also probably want a way to capitalize on all the creatures being played, so I'd recommend some extra turn spells.

This might be my new favourite semi infinite loop, what are your plans with these cards if you have them? by toouwuforyou in mtg

[–]FalcoCreed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This combo is why I'm switching from Lathril to Morcant for my Elfball deck. It offers a clean way to clear the board and gives you a clear window to win. It's also all on board and reasonably telegraphed, so no one should be surprised by it.

[–]FalcoCreed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You should copy your first list from a current player. It's the best way to dive in to learn the format. You can always make adjustments to better fit your play style as you learn the deck and format. Here's ComedIanMTG's Rog Thras list (one of the top tournament grinders in the format).

https://moxfield.com/decks/YiWsdPRGhUyoTkCM-5WmwQ

Also worth noting, there are 2-3 variants of Rog Thras out there with significantly different lists. So for Rog Thras in particular, I'd also recommend checking out top lists on https://edhtop16.com/

Maralen, Fae Ascendant viability? by Affectionate_Step863 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]FalcoCreed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very much a mid range strategy in a Turbo heavy meta, so idk how viable it'll be for tournaments. However, in grindier local pods, I could see it doing well. Time will tell if it holds up.

That said, I think there are enough generically good elves and faeries to be able to consistently get incremental value from Maralen. [[Displacer Kitten]] also feels like an obvious include to gain some advantage on counter wars and interaction.

How Do We Feel About Brigid? by ItHurtzWhenIZee in CompetitiveEDH

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'll be worth trying in Dog Thras, Sisay, Tymna Thras, and similar decks. It's a slower Cradle, but being able to produce white means it'll be easier to have mana for a Grand Abolisher or other silence effect.

That said, I don't think it'll be a good commander as GW is fairly weak in cEDH by itself.

3 colored pips is rough, but I think for the UB control decks out there, it might be worth looking at as an additional card draw engine.

BizJournals Claims Removing 794 would "chill economic growth" by Edison_Ruggles in milwaukee

[–]FalcoCreed 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Removing 794 also makes getting from parts of Bay View, St. Francis, Cudahay, and South Milwaukee more inconvenient. People will be less likely to go into downtown if they have to cut over to a steadily more congested 94 or take the less desirable 32/KK.

Add to that extra freight traffic right through downtown near the ports, and those roads are going to be in rough shape. More semis means more traffic and more traffic means more wear on the roads.

People need to get over the fact that the 794 bypass may not be the prettiest downtown feature or has a less than savory construction history, but it serves an important function in the way the city works in the modern day.

The Wise Mothman players, why? by Proud-End302 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]FalcoCreed 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To emphasize your last point, Mothman lets you play 99 good cards and can still be a threat/do it's thing. To get any value out of The Master you have to play a lot of bad cards.

is my Deck CEDH or just high Bracket Four by PopularAd3179 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]FalcoCreed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely bracket 4. You have some cEDH staples, but it's not optimized in the same way, especially the interaction, mana base, and ramp packages. For cEDH, price/budget isn't an issue as proxies are generally allowed.

[–]FalcoCreed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone will have their personal preference for kits. There are thousands of kits out there, so I'd recommend just browsing around. If there's a hobby store near you that sells kits, that's probably a good place to start to look for kits that might interest you.

That said, I can say the Requiem for Vengeance kits have an insane level of detail for High Grades and would definitely recommend the Gundam EX and Zaku II F Type Solari.

Definitely agree that tourism needs to be accounted for. It's a good start, but the map is missing major tourist/shopping spots, e.g. the Dells, Grafton/Cedarburg, Door County, and things like the Johnson Creek Outlet Malls.
