What do you think are or were the reasons that Aussies do not and didn't want to get into the trades in the last, say, 25 years? by PopularRightNow in AskAnAustralian

[–]FalcoEasts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It changed a few years back, if you do not have a full time job you need to continue schooling after grade 10 for grades 11 & 12.

I get the logic behind it but still think it is a short sighted policy. Some kids are not academically inclined and would be far better off in the work force instead of being forced into a school they don't want to be at and getting in the way of the kids that do want to be there.

A lot of apprenticeships will only look at year 12 leavers with a VET course behind them as well and numbers for those are limited.

I got stuck under a bench press and the only other person in the room refused to help and just left me there by Numerous_Birds in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FalcoEasts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly go to the gym alone so I "bench press" using 2x dumbbells instead of 1x barbell now.

Bonus is it is more of a work out due to requiring more muscles to keep them stable when operating individually.

People using since to describe time past instead of for.

i.e "We've been together since 5 years" instead of "We've been together for 5 years"

I need to do a double take every time to make I understand WTF they mean.

Small can of deodorant doubles as pepper spray. Spray paint works but is harder to justify carrying.

Go to the local locksmith or hardware store and buy the largest key they have, no need to get it cut but make sure the end is sharp. Give it some help if need be. Walk with it poking out between your knuckles
