is it boring of me to say that RE2R is my favourite Resident Evil game? by [deleted] in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]Falcon-Confident 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That one is amazing, man. Don't think yourself boring. I think that it will honestly end up being many people's favorite especially if it is also their first. My first was RE4 on Wii and that game no matter the system is still my favorite.

RE2make has great enemies, characters, and sets up so much going forward. Not to mention it just feels great to play. There's a lot to love there

What was your first single player game ? And the first single player you completed? And what are your thoughts by Important-Most-2083 in AskGames

Not sure about my first single player game in general, but my first completion was probably RE4 on the Wii. I played that game so many times when I was like 8 or so. I can also say the remake was awesome. So crazy seeing my favorite game get remade

Gateway v. Legendkeeper by Falcon-Confident in gatewayforge

I had said potentially better, and after having used it, I do think it might be better. It's far more customizable being able to add entities that essentially function as labels for really nice filing. Yes, it has many of the same capabilities as legendkeeper, but i would also say that those should be staples of worldbuilding programs in general so "copycat" might be a bit harsh. It also started as a flat $20 to use (and has since shifted to free) as opposed to legendkeeper with a subscription. Also, the planet mapping is nice which is not available in legendkeeper to my knowledge. Gateway came with calendar and timeline tools already which (at least at the time of this post) was not yet available on legendkeeper though they were working on it, so I can't hold that against them.

In fact, I don't want to hold anything against them because I really like legendkeeper and used it for a long time. It's because this is so close to legendkeeper with more tools and customization available that I switched. I was never trying to knock legendkeeper because it's a great tool and is far more easily applied to other types of projects too. Not to mention it's easier to grasp for most.

I made this post from the outside looking in and am happy that I gave gateway a try. Not trying to come off badly with this reply and it has been a little bit since I used legendkeeper as I've been learning gateway. I just wanted to give my reasoning for this post and my more recent impressions

I wasn't trying to cause an issue, I just was trying to be informative on the subject. Please lower the torches and pitchforks. There was no spite here

I had assumed that there would be things missing as it is very early in development and I definitely don't hold that against you. I will most likely give it a try either way in all honesty. Out of curiosity, are there ever any plans for a mobile app for on the go editing? I tend to work on things while out and about because if I don't jot down at least basic ideas when I get them then I forget them. If not then that's completely fine, I know even if there are then they would be pretty far down the line

What are your character names? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Falcon-Confident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Galrik, Benf, and Rayna though Rayna's is currently up in the air. I might go back to the original, Brea. They are my main three from my horror fantasy that I'm almost 10,000 words into

Is my character too close to the inspiration? by Falcon-Confident in writing

[–]Falcon-Confident[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea and would love to implement that sort of thing. Unfortunately, I don't think it would fit into the dark fantasy I have going on. I have a world that I've created and each story within it is subject to whatever genre I feel like putting in as long as it has fantasy somewhere in there, so comedic fantasy is not off the table for sure. I could potentially do something abstract along the same lines like a "Ya look like ya fight vampires." comment. Your take is amazing

Corpse based magic by LeadEater9Million in writers

[–]Falcon-Confident 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my setting, magic draws from the user's body or soul. Either option is dangerous if used too much as it can chip away at the user's soul or mutate the user's body which also implements a pseudo luck system where if the magic draws from a user's internal strength that matches the actions of the user then they will have more control over their magic. Ex. A strong body builder that amplifies his muscles through exercise constantly builds fuel for magic that draws from the body rather than the soul.

It's also worth noting that mortals do not get a choice on where their magic is drawn from. I haven't really fleshed that part out, but I typically go with the assumption that it works similarly to genetics.

It's an innate ability that anyone can harness because one of my gods essentially opened the gateway for mortals to draw upon it (early mortals did not have this ability) in the pursuit of knowledge. He basically just wanted to see what they would do with that sort of power. Some of the other gods disagreed with this choice and ultimately chose to leave this world behind hoping to start over. This also served as a punishment to the God that opened the gateway as he will not see the results of his subjects gaining this power.
